Used ones on ebay, but it would be easier to get Pippa Middleton into the sack than to find new pistons and rings

Haha so I've heard. Tore the bottom end down. The rear cylinder con rod bearing has worn down to the thickness of a can. Crank is pretty much a door stop. So that was the knocking noise.

The balance shaft was out of time, that's why the motor locked(my fault)  being ignorant. 8-)

fret not

But you will be wiser now, and not likely to make that mistake again.

There are several discussions regarding better rod bearings you should find helpful, especially since they are no longer available from Yamaha.
Retired, on the downhill slide. . . . . . . . still feels like going uphill!

I used Nissan rod bearings in mine, a slight mod to the rods is necessary but otherwise fit fine. Pistons and rings are history unless you find someone with some NOS left over.  I was lucky enough to find some NOS rings.

JE is a custom piston maker and will make pistons for about anything.
