ok, after fixing I don't know how many of these I think I'm not going to bother but
I've got a cheap substitute that seems to work pretty well.

if you're in the same boat, here's what I did.
get yourself a 3 foot piece of 5/16 fuel line,
fold it in half and using some wire ties, crimp it nice and tight to prevent it from leaking like so.
I tested it for leaks and it is good.

then what I did was run it up along the frame under the gas tank and secure it there.
adjusted the carbs and back in business.
the bike is running good and I've removed the plastic housing giving a bit more air flow to the carb area.
it originally started out as a temporary fix but I'm happy with it.
I figure if I need to replace every couple of years so be it.

as always your mileage may vary.   8)

fret not

Ron, is the volume close to the YICS chambers?  Looks like an easy fix, thanks.

A nice low-tech solution.  If you ever sell your bike it will confuse the hell out of the new owner.

I like it! What tweaking of the carbs did you have to do? Just the balance?

I propose that this fix be named the RG-YIKES.

Fret: not sure on that I haven't done the math on the volume but it may be close enough for our intentions.

pinholez: I checked the sync and ran through a mixture adjustment on both carbs as well as did a propane lean drop
to check for any vacuum leaks and make sure everything was spot on.

she's running pretty good and I figure I'll get the warning signs pretty clearly if I have a failure.
time will tell.
in fact if anyone else runs this we should probably try and log the info as this is best cheap fix I've seen so far
other than just plugging the ports.

Nice work.  My bike's YUCKs was leaking badly and the bike barely ran when I got it.  To me because of the cheap design, it's a liability at this point.  KISS is the word on old bikes and tube is about as simple as it gets.
