A faulty petcock flow control work around is to install an inexpensive inline fuel cut off valve between the stock petcock and the carbs..  I fought the leaky petcock war for years.  Installed the inline fuel cut off valve years ago and have never had anymore fuel on the garage floor.  Yes, it may look unsightly, I don't care.  It dependably solves the problem.
