Vision Tracker on the road again

Hi!

Surrounded by unsympathetic people I climbed the mountain of Vision Gremlins. Why don't you just fix the damn bike?! It's so easy on paper! My first TCI went up in smoke. My second TCI got new transistors and checked diodes, no go. My new Czech TCI from IgniTech arrived promptly and was plug and play. It's the programmable one that even got inputs for Throttle Position Sensor (and vacuum sensor)  if one feels like getting really modern. I just happily plugged it in and the bike came to life!

Well, it still cut of every other minute. That got sorted by removing the saddle and filming the M-Unit whilst gutting out, turned out the start indicator lamp on the M-Unit lit up every now and then. I mailed my findings to MotoGadget in Germany and the quickly spotted the fault. Ignition interference. The M-Unit is a freakin  computer! That is demanding. I had all my wires bundled with the spark plug wire, ops... Motogadget pointed out that the M-Button must be inside the handlebar for shielding reason and that the thin signal wire to the M-Unit must be a distance from the ignition coils and wires. In my case its crammed under the fuel tank. I rerouted the spark wires, took a shielded audio wire for the M-Button signal and rerouted it and grounded it in both ends. That's was the ticket! Why don't you just fix the bike?! Yeah right. I'm near the point where theres reason to order a new Lithium battery. But for the time being I just ride.

I'm happy to present a riding video! https://youtu.be/ZBz2M75MH5E

Good to hear positive results, I don't need negative feedback. Are those Unifilters on your bike? I may be able to use the stock filter but Unis in the stock air box and no vacuum flapper is more likely.

Great to see Vision Tracker on the road again! I really like the sound of the bike. I have problems to get the my Vision on the road again but your story gives me hope that it can be done  ;)

Thanks guys  Yes the are uni filter. It struggles a bit with bogging, i dont know how bad stock is but this one is "for the enthusiast"  :)

It does sound great! No doubt largely due to the well made custom exhaust.

Others considering the M unit may benefit from your findings so thanks for the informative update.

Damn that thing sounds nice! :D Can you tell me from what bike did you use your gas tank? And did you have to modify it to fit ? :D And what  rear tire dimensions are? :D
Yes as a matter of fact I do know what I'm doing! Now get back in case it blows up..

Most of the sound comes from the intake. I've got a akrapovic shut-uper-insert in end of the silencer. Cruising is as quiet as a stock bike. The gas tank is written up in the original build thread. The tires are 120/90 and 110/80, came with the bike. Maybe I put a spare back tire in front.. There should really be tracker style tires with slanted threads or at least som knobby ones.

I can't remember but did someone put up a chart of max speed on every gear? I can't find it and now I'm guessing my shift points. And there's no rev limiter..

More parts are rolling in so there will be something to write about later.

fret not

Retired, on the downhill slide. . . . . . . . still feels like going uphill!

Here's what I calculated... Kmph = 60 * ((RPM / Gear Ratio) * Circumference)  No guarantee I've got it right though.  That's not every gear, but you can work it out from the ratios

I was going to ask if you had a free flowing exhaust, but just watched your video.   Let me pull out my carbs (I wanted to clean them  in my ultrasonic cleaner anyway) and get you jet numbers.   Years ago when I bought a one-off race exhaust from Rick G, I tuned the 82 carbs with a wide band meter for that exhaust and individual k&n filters.  I got the bog down to a minimum, and it pulled great.  Worst case, they will get you 90% of the way to the jetting you need.  It'll take me a few days to find them though.  They're in my box of "I'll never use this stuff again, but I should probably keep it" parts buried in the back of the garage.
"At first it's like a new pair of underware... Frustrating and constrictive.  But then, it kind of grows on you..."
