Ron, PoD, and everyone else, thank you for your concerns.  Kathy and I are doing very well indeed.  It really is a God thing.  When we moved into our house 39 years ago it was our first home.  We were a lot younger and generally clueless regarding the important considerations of home selection.  If it was in a nice area, and we could afford the note, that was good enough for us.  So we blindly signed the papers and moved right in.  We had absolutely no idea of how the place would fair in flooding situations.  Since then we have been through three hurricanes and at least three major tropical weather events, and never have had any water in the house or even close to it.  The streets get about three and half feet of water, the rain stops, and thirty minutes later they're empty  Praise God.
Of course, this the worst flood event Houston or the USA has ever seen.  Vast areas are or were under water.  Extraordinary conditions are or have been put in place including closing both airports, restricting the air space to only relief related aircraft and a city wide (4+ million people) night time curfew.  Hundreds of thousands of homes flood damaged, with the majority still flooded.  Five hundred thousand cars flood totaled.  Aprox. forty five thousand people moved from their homes to two hundred plus shelters in 72 hours.  The rescue efforts have been massive and heroic.
The best part of the whole thing is the way the whole country has come together and the love that has permeated the atmosphere.  When the Governor called out for rescue boats and high water trucks, it was on.  Within hours, from throughout the south and east of the country, every type of shallow draft boat, water craft, or high clearance wheeled vehicle imaginable converged on southeast Texas.  Many of the men and women involved in the rescue efforts worked for 24 hours or more non stop.  The rescue needs were that great.  The attitude was that as long as there are people in need of rescue the rescue goes on.  On TV they showed a Cadillac Escalade based monster truck pulling a submerged military "deuce and half" up a boat ramp to dry ground.  A group that calls itself itself "The Cajun Navy" showed up with their boats.  They originally formed up to rescue Hurricane Katrina refugees and now answered the same call for Harvey.  You just gotta love the Cajuns.  They are the salt of the earth.

The love and patience that we are showing each other is precious.  There are no strangers here.  We are all in it together.  Bob

Nice to see you Bobby - you've been a stranger lately.

Good to know you are both safe

Glad to hear you guys are doing well. My daughter in law's father lives in the Houston area and has had no problems as well.
Good to see people working together to help the less fortunate in a crisis. Here in California we have had donation drives to send clothes and other necessities to our friends in Texas. Best wishes to all.
