I am rebuilding my vision (1982) and need a new front caliper. Anyone know a caliper that works with it other than the stock one?

fret not

There is at least one thread regarding modifying brakes on the XZ550 with later model parts.  Also, if you are able you can fabricate the necessary hardware you can adapt various other calipers.  I found some calipers for a FZ1000 to use, but I am also putting a set of forks from an FZ1000 on the bike.  I will start by using one caliper and a 320mm rotor, and if that isn't enough I can add the other caliper and another rotor.  These are 4 piston calipers, and generally pretty powerful.
Retired, on the downhill slide. . . . . . . . still feels like going uphill!

The Prophet of Doom

I made an adapter for my bike to fit a Brembo 2 pot caliper for use with early R1 rotors.  There are some details here

The only bike i know of that has the same lug spacing is some year models of the RZ350.  You can get commercial spacers for other calipers. but you do have to get the right year model
