Separate final drive from swing arm

I have the swing arm off my bike for a refinish (paint to fresh metal). Am wondering about separating final drive assembly from swing arm. Appears that only the four bolts hold it there, but will the shaft simply slide out without any special tools once I have it separated?
Thanks for any info on this,
Mike

After checking the factory manual (not the Haynes one which seems to say not to undo it) it appears just a matter of undoing the four main bolts and one other. The whole show should then just slip apart from the look of things.
Would appreciate any advice from anyone who has done it.

That is pretty much the procedure. All the Yamahas of the era used a mechanically similar final drive.

Remove the rear wheel first (rod, link, axle, spacer).

Remove the four nuts then pull the final.

Thanks. Off to get an appropriate hex key new. Might throw the entire swing-arm in the boot just to make sure the key is a good fit. :-)

They are standard metric hex.  You won't have any trouble.

Yep. 10mm. Tried it in the screws while I was at the tool shop. Tight as!
