HP fluctuation

alright well the bike is running but here is the problem... as i accelerate the bike accelerates slowly and then it seems like the heavens align and she flies for about 500rpms then back to the slower acceleration... what can be causing this? i can hear the difference in the exhaust sound when its happening so i am pretty sure the clutch isn't slipping or anything like that... anyone got any suggestions? Ohh and my exhaust has HUGE holes at the back so i'm pretty dang sure that it isn't an exhaust flow problem... i think my bike could shoot a cantaloupe out of the rught side pipe if she wanted too

It sounds like your carbs have issues.
little floaty things can do that.
things to check\do...
inline fuel filter, pull, and rebuild the carbs.
check the inside of your tank for rust.
let us know what you find.

Yep, sounds like the carbs. There is a lot going on there and a lot could be wrong. To make it even better, the '82s are different from the '83s and there seems to have been a factory fix available for the '82s. What version do you have?
