Gas overflow.

why does the gas leak out of the gas cap  after you fill up the tank???.. I don't even fill it full!!

Yeah I got full of gas on my ride tonight with my girlfriend!!   It went well! ;)

The problem is agravated by gassing up with a hot engine, the tank has  short tube extending down an inch or so in to the tank . When you fill it up all the way and the gas reaches the  tube , it eseals the opening and starts to compress the air in the top of the tank , The only  path for the gas is out the cap opening. I've learned just how much gas it will take  safely, so I only get a bath once a year.
