'82 speedometer cable

Hey eveyone~  I have picked up a 82' vision this winter and I have a question about the speedometer cable and instrument cluster because they don't work .  I unscrewed the cable from the wheel and the end of the cable was just square....(is this right??)  I could spin the square cable with my finger and it would register on the instrument cluster.  Has anyone had the same problem or any information would be a great help!!

Hi Nick  speedo cables are square on the end ( a few are a "Knife and fork " drive but not the Vision)  i have found a few cable that were a little short and would not work . you can get a universal speedo core kit at many auto parts stores , i ahd good luck with these , or get a new cable. good luck and let us know how it comes out . I have a good used speedo cable and sending unit available.
You can have either or both for $10ea. + s&h.

I got the spedo to work I took the cluster apart, updated the spedo to an 83' (140 mph) and glued the cracked case togerther,  It works fine now thanks!!!
