Getting ready to install oil cooler

Hey Guys & Guru's

Well, I am almost ready to install a oil cooler onto my V,  a couple of questions/comments:

1.  1/4 18 NPT pipe tap, is the 18 representing a thread count?  I have found a bunch of different sizes of 1/4, and was curious if that was the typical size for the hose barb fittings.

2.  I was trying to find some aluminum hose barb fittings.  even though we are using thread tape, Brass and Aluminum are too far apart on the "dis-similar metals" scale for my liking.  I know this might seem a bit paranoid, but that part of my bike gets wet.

I thought I had saved the packaging from the tap, but can't find it. I don't believe it mentioned a thread pitch on the card though...  I bought the fittings first and matched the tap to it so it didn't really matter. it's a course thread, i never saw a fine thread version.  doesn't mean it doesn't exist, just never saw it.
