Rear brake light switch spring

After getting a new battery installed in my '83 project, I discovered that the rear brake pedal doesn't activate the brake light. Further investigation led to the discovery that the spring connecting the brake pedal to the switch is broken.

As far as I can tell, that spring is not available separately. It can only be ordered as part of the brake light switch itself, which seems like overkill just to get the spring. I could probably rig something up with a little bit of safety wire, but I'd rather have things as correct as possible.

Does anybody have an extra one they'd be willing to part with?

Thanks in advance,

Greg

I just replaced mine with one from the hardware store.  Measure about how long you need, then go down and look at a board with a zillion springs on it and pick something that looks right.  The switch has almost an inch of adjustment, so you just have to be in the ballpark.  I did this last week.  The spring has a number, but I don't recall it.  Just picked it off a display.  Get a light spring, don't want to break the switch.
