I am in the process of stripping my tank for painting. The rubber grommets in there now are OK but not great.

Is there a place to get replacements or should I just try to be really careful and take the ones out that are in the tank now.

An indirect TIP: lightly grease your rubber gromets.  This will make removing and replacing the plastic componets that they hold in place much less stressful on their 20+ year old bodies.  Replacements can be had from the specialty fastener drawers at Home Depot or Lowes.  Cheers.

Great idea, makes life a lot easier.

You may want to consider silicone grease for that. Also called dielectic (sp?) grease, used to waterproof electrical connections. Doesn't degrade rubber parts like regular grease sometimes can.

I found out that they can be replaced so they are all getting replaced so its getting all new grommets
