Stator & R/R interchangeable parts

I noticed that everyone has the same problem. I personally owned one of these bikes back in 90-93 and only had one failure. I used a Honda Nighthawk stator but had to spice the wires to get it to work. Since my GF has now purchased a few visions and we finally got hers up to par and converted to an 83 with front end, body work, etc... I decided to post my findings on the forum so others can use this information.

Well Since electroSport (formally elextrex) sells them for a $151 + $15 I decided to look else where, not to mention my local dealer wanting $280 for the stator alone. I mean come you can purchase a vision for that price these days. You will see a few of these on eBay in more abundance then the 83 Vision one that was just on there starting at $50 with a reserve. These lists go for around $30 - $70 and R/R are much cheaper. Who wants to pay electroSport $139 for a R/R or a dealer much higher when you can get them off eBay for as cheap as $9.

Yeah I am an XN85 man all the way, hence my website http://www.xn85turbo.com but the Vision has it place and is a great beginners bike.

Just checked on dennis kirk and he was selling ricks r&rs for 99 bucks! and I belive the one from Electrex was 139.00

I just purchased a VT500 stator on ebay about a month ago for $15. Soldered on the wiring from the original stator and it works great. 14.5V at the batery.  The stator didn't show any signs of being over heated in the Honda. I believe this was the original Honda OEM stator.

Now to get the oil cooler on before it does over heat the windings.

I'm actually bidding on a XV920 stator on e Bay (USA) at the moment. There seems alot of XV920 stuff on there. Are there alot of these models in the US? All the stators advertised look a whole heap better than my blackened
one off the spares bike. The XV's must run alot cooler than the Vision then???? Or maybe they just beak earlier before they burn the stators out! I've always liked the look of the air cooled XV motors.

Not a lot of xv920's here, but many xvVirago's.  I always thought that the fully enclosed chain on the 920 was a wonderful feature.  Cheers.
