accelerator pump question

Ok, can someone explain exactly how this thing works. At low RPM's if I crank on the throdle in boughs out and stalls. If I open it up slowly its fine. If I get the RPM's up then crank on it its fine. If you need anymore info from me to help let me know.

First, confirm that they are both spraying.

Be sure they are spraying BETWEEN the throttle plate and side of the carb. this was an issue Yamaha addressed specificly for the Vision.  If it's hitting either the plate or the side, CAREFULLY bend the nozzles with a screwdriver

Also, is the bike an 82 or 83? if it's an 83 it's likely that the accelerator controll diaphram has stiffened up with age. this is the diaphram that can be reached from the top of the carb.  replacement diaphrams are in the Keyster 83 kit sold on Ebay.

I bought a new kit and installed a new diaphragm. The kit came with a much taller spring than what was in there so I put the old spring back in. The new spring didnt colapse as much as the old one. Have good spray. Does the rod need to be shortened to start the movement of the lever sooner for the lower RPM, or lengthened? I would think it should be shortened.
