I've read a few posts about members converting to standard chrome bars. Has anyone got any close up pics? Also can you use the std top plate on the tripple T (is there enough metal?), or is a new one off item needed?

It needs some cosmetic work, but here is how my bars look.

I'd be interested to see how far away the bottom holes are from the edge of the clamp.

Hey Chris, are those custom made bar clamps? Single bolt fixing? Or did you buy them off the shelf, if so what make?
Did you sacrifice some old bars for the fork clamp or also make up your own brackets? Did you reinforce the alloy plate underneath for the bolt holes? Real nice looking job. :)

McCoy,
Do you still have the scratch sheet sketch you used to design these? If you do I'd like a .pdf scan or a fax of it. I'm probably not the only one.

Glyn,
I didn't do any of the work on the clamps, it was all done by Ron McCoy.  I bumped the message because he couldn't find it and was wanting to help you out.  I will try to post some pictures of the clamps today.  He will have to get back to you on how he did it.  i will say that it is one of the best mods you can do.

I'm currently making blueprints for a piece to replace the handlebar risers/clamps and provide clamping points for a standard bar. Have to have a tube bent though is the only bad part.

Coyle,
No sketch, its all in my head, as are the next generation ones.  I'll see if I can come up with a drawing. I'm a whole lot better with the machine tools than I am with computers.

ZspinZ,
I hope this helps.

Ron,
A fax of your dimensions on a napkin, etc. would be fine.

Well I took it all apart today to paint everything.  So here are some pictures of everything torn apart.  When I find some time I will measure all the pieces and try to post some drawings.

Nice pics Visionless. I think getting the lower spacers welded onto the tripple T plate may possibly make for a stronger job? But I guess once they are welded there's really no going back. Are you going to get them welded eventually?

visionless

No plans to weld them in.  This bike has been laid down hard enough that it bent the left side of the bars back at about a 45 degree angle and caused no damage to upper triples or the mounts. They already are wedged in when they are clamped down, so all welding would do is keep them from falling out when disassebled.

Here is a sketch of your underpiece that is not to scale.

If you print two copies and dimension one for the right and one for the left I'll do the scale drawing for both parts. Just fax the dimensioned sketches to me at (866) 431-8445.
I will try and get a rough drawing of the handlebar mount up there next for you to dimension.
Do you have a digital caliper? If not I'll send you one.

Print, dimension and Fax to me and I'll do the drawings to scale. If Ron's got any modifications he wants to add, just add them to the sketch.
