www.patriotguard.org

They are agroup of dedicated motorcycle riders (and some non-riders) that get invited to fallen soldiers funerals to peacefully block the protestors that have been showing up lately.  They usually set up a ring of bikes a fair distance around the area and prevent the protestors from compromising the dignity of the fallen soldier and their family at theh funeral.
They are well known for their efforts to block the so callled "Westpark Baptist Church" - tho ones that say things like "a dead soldier is a good soldier" burn and stomp an American flags, "Thank God for IED's", etc.  Doesn't really sound like a church.
A friend of mine is a member of the Patriot Guard Riders, so I figured I'd join too.

YES. To be honest, though, Im all the way up here in Tahoe and there are no rides here. Not even close. Most of them are in southern Cali.  If one comes close by, you can bet I'll be there, but I have no idea of protocol, as Ive never been...

Loss of a human life is never something to celebrate.

No, it isnt. We just honor the sacrifice they made for us. And try to keep any demonstrations down to a minimum, EITHER side, To make the trip home as comfortable and warm as possible. A final Salute if you will.

You should see what happens on the 401 between CFB Trenton & Toronto ON. Canada, When a Repat Ceremony happens. Every Overpass between Trenton & the DV Parkway is lined with Canadians waving our flag & paying their Respect to our Fallen Countrymen.
After the convoy passes a large group of Motorcyclists bring up the rear of the group.
I suggest the OROV group try to support this when it happens.
                             Thanks Ken S.

Yes I'm a 5 year member of the Patriot guard. One of my eagle scouts was killed in Kuwait. And with the parents permission I contacted the guard riders and they came to the funeral and blocked the protesters from Kansas. Protest laws have changed in Illinois sense then. I have rode on other missions in the area. They are all tough because of the memory of Kyle's funeral.
