Title: New to Visions and starting a project - tips on what to fix now or wait on.
Post by: davexz on October 24, 2010, 10:48:32 AM
Hello - sorry if I ask the same old questions here but I'm new to the Yam XZ550.  I got a project started - engine out and now unstuck and was wondering what all I should go after and fix now.  For example,  I hear the starter clutch bolts always come loose so I'm thinking of fixing that now - should I do it now or wait for the chance that it might not need it.  Carbs - I think I will just stick with the 82 model, etc.  Thanks DAve

do the starter clutch bolt fix & tighten both balancer shaft nuts, even if they don't seem loose. they will be. bend all the tabs doew, (you'll see when you get in there)

also, this is a perfect time to do a valve adjustment.
