Title: Out of the history books
Post by: Rick G on June 19, 2012, 01:18:01 AM
The last couple of evenings I have been working on my 1967,Yamaha YG1TK,  80 cc trail bike . The model designation tells it all , Y for Yamaha, G is 80 cc , 1 first 80cc, T for trail bike and K for auto lube oil injection.
I found a good cylinder, new piston rings, pin and clips. I have had the gasket set for 9 years. The carb cover was missing and I got that on eBay too. I just purchased 3 new 2.75 x 17  tyres, from a friend who canceled his project (25.00) .I put the exhaust back on it tonight.
Still to go is reassembling the head light ,tail light and throttle cable , front brake cable and the right hand handle bar switches. The heat shield is missing , this will be a challenge, as this pipe was a one year item. The air filter element is missing.
I hope to hear it run in a couple of days , if it has spark , a little longer if it doesn't .
I haven't worked  on one of these  since 1979 and it was mine.
The plan is that if I get so decrepit, that I can't ride anything else , I'll ride 6 blocks to the mini mart on my 80 cc lol :D ;)

Rick, I'm glad to hear you're working on your project bike. After hearing you talk about it I'm curious to see it so post some pics!

I take pics as soon as I get the rear wheel on it. Hopefully tomorrow!
