Gday all, thought I'd swing by and introduce myself. My name is Dave, I'm a first time Vision owner after years of wanting one. I've come from an early 80's Yamaha background ie XJ750, and there are 2 '82 XS in my shed. I love that retro Yammy shape!  I've just puchased this item:

I believe some of you are familiar with it?  ;D Anyways I've wanted a Vision for YEARS, but haven't seen one for sale here since probably 2000-ish the Just Bikes Annual. I intend to restore one of these bikes, then as for the other, I don't know, I'll see how grey from stress I am at the end.
I'm picking the two XZ's up tomorrow, pretty excited!!!!!!

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming HOOOOYA lets go again baby !!!!!!

'82 Vision, Pearl Orange finish, lots of up-grades!!!

Thanks Tiger, I think this forum will be as much a support group as anything else. I broke the news to the missus last night that I'd bought the bikes on Saturday, she did think it was odd that I was constantly checking ebay on my phone while we were out to dinner and ten pin bowling afterwards. I know she won't be of much use when I'm a crying mess and frustrated because the weather is no good for painting etc.. How many Australian users on this forum? I'd like a count out of curiosity. Hopefully enough to start a club, perhaps one exists already?

Welcome m8, I've just completed my rebuild, only took since last August.
Take lots of digital photos when you strip it down for future reference.
Read alot of the forum it has no end of help, and if in doubt, no matter how silly the question is, always ask here.
And the best of luck.

Thanks Lexx, I've been following your rebuild on your blog, was a huge inspiration! I really like the way you did your wheels- I did mine a few years back on my 83 xj750 which was also shaft drive with the same wheels as the XZ, wish I'd seen your blog first as I did mine the hard way with masking tape and sprayed paint. Hand painted seems much easier! I'll be keeping that in mind for the XZ.. and the XS I have on the go too..  :-\
