CdnLouie...
It's 460km from my place to Syracuse, add about 50km for you. Either way, it's more like a 6 hour run unless you have a strong bladder and a big gas tank! Add more time to eat & cross the border and it's at least a 6 hour trip.

Ken and Dorothy would have about 4-5 hrs heading to Kingston and down 81...
JasonM. would have about 5 hrs....
Zore would have 6?

Hey NV, you had mentioned that things could start up potentially for the 6th & 7th.  Do you have any limitation as to when we get there?  Late on the sixth? Mid-day on the 7th? etc.?  We are looking at about a five hour run down from TO so we need to figure out what works for reasonable arrival times.

This is going to be a great season closer for the V-team.  Much appreciation for all the effort going into it as host.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming HOOOOYA lets go again baby !!!!!!

'82 Vision, Pearl Orange finish, lots of up-grades!!!

Hey NV that's a great window of opportunity to get down to Syracuse  ;D.  I will be looking at the earliest to leave on Thursday (get in by early evening), so if that works for anyone else from this side of the border, let me know. I had a taste of it in July, and ready for some more.  This might help us dodge any potential bad weather, so let's use up those vacation days.

I am up for crossing the border at Kingston or Niagara/Buffalo, so let me know who is going where and when?

I may take Thursday and Friday off. Which day I arrive is of course depending on the weather. I am just looking for someone to ride in with from my direction.  I don't like traveling over 150 miles alone on the Vision. My Venture is another story. I can carry enough tools on the Venture to fix anything. But last year the tranny bearing went on the big Venture. I still have not put it together. I am just a putz sometimes.
As far as lodging... I can sleep anywhere with a pillow and no mosquitos.

pillow and sans skeeter sleeping isn't a problem, but I don't know if anyone is coming in from the east...

but hey!! what about Ron? Ron, can you come out and play?

if not, depending on logistics, I might be able to ride out part way and find a nice road back with ya. NYS Route 20 (the main east/west route before the thruway) is kinda neat....

you'd probably like to chat with CndLouie about your Ventures... he recently passed through with his baby

Jason have faith.  It's a known fact that Visions don't break down on the road, only at home.  Us Canadian boys are pushing over 300 miles (one way) to get there.  You're not that far away for us to get out to you anyway should the rare occasion arise.  It would be nice if another eastern Vision rider would volunteer to ride up with you and have some fun in NY.  So who is raining on NV's parade?

I can vouch for the fact that NV's hospitality is second to none.  You won't be disappointed.  This will be a ride to remember and the season for riding is usually perfect that time of year. If anyone can make this work you will have something to keep you going through the cold, miserable winter months (excepting our southern boys).

Book the time, buy your wife a nice going away present, and get on that Vision and cruise!

jasonm.

I sent Joe Vacc. an email. He lives only and hour or so from me. He's a bit south of Albany. Maybe I can get him going?

Uh no.  Not unless you call 135 miles away from my house "at home".  However, I still wouldn't let the possibility stop me, a credit card and a cell phone will temporarily solve most problems...  (to read what I'm talking about: http://members.cruzio.com/~moffetb/vision/breakdown.html  and see the link in my .sig for the results )

Hey, stop raining on our parade!  You know "it never rains in California, but that it pours"!  Think positive, now and don't leave home without having given your Vision the appropriate TLC.  Nice restoration pics, the old girl was certainly due.

Brian Moffet

Like I said, even with that experience, I would still go on a long trip, with a cell phone and credit card, all problems are temporary  ;D

Go for the trip, get the cell phone of someone else on the trip, have fun...

Thanks Brian for your blessing upon our adventure, I will admit that I do have a very good CAA or AAA coverage with the "plus" membership where you can get up to 200km (120 miles) free towing back to home, which is a nice little insurance policy for that "what if" scenario.  An added bonus, our NY-ON group really has some very good Vision specialists.

There is strength in numbers, counting down...

Out here in "fly over country", 135 miles IS local!  My last two ststors died about 60 miles from home.  Didn't even slow down.  Just rode it home.  Last one, I was down to a little over 12 volts registering on the gauge when I pulled into the garage.  If I had more miles to travel, I would disconnect the headlight, though.

My V has never left me stranded & I make at least one ride over 400 miles every year.  I would recommend taking a spare stator, R/R & TCI if you will be more than 100 miles from home, though.  Better to have them & not need them than the other way 'round.

Hope all you NE ROVers have a safe & fun ride!  I know its difficult to find time & opportunities, but we want pix!   ;D

If you have an accident on a motorcycle, it's always your fault. Tough call, but it has to be that way. You're in the right, and dead -on a bike. The principle is not to have any accident. If you're involved in an an accident, it's because you did not anticipate. Then, by default, you failed.

 8) I did a 300 mile round trip today, to go and see one customer :o Decided to take the "V" instead of the car ;) Customer doesn't mind as he love's "Toy's"... 8) Great weather, great road's and the Vision ran like clockwork... 8)
I have NOOOOOO problem taking the "V" on any journey, doesn't matter the distance, short or long. Look after your "V" and she will look after you 8) 8) 8).

Sure looking forward to Night_Vision's Syracuse Can_Am ridin' weekend. See you all there... 8)
