Title: a few pictures from my last JVMC meeting
Post by: don_vanecek on August 12, 2007, 08:27:02 PM
Here are a few pictures I took at the last meeting of the Omaha chapter of the Japanese Vintage Motorcycle club meeting I went to.

First two pictures show my bike and a late 60's Yamaha 200cc twin. I owned a 180cc twin that I rode perhaps two summers in the late 60's, I don't in my mind remember them as being so small! http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s279/dadsvision/DadsPictures8-12-07082.jpg

Next is a mid sixty's Honda 305, again, it sure is small!

An 86? FJ1200

A 1979 Yamaha 750 triple

And last a very nicely done 75 Waterbuffalo

Hope you enjoy the pictures. So far I have found this club not anywhere as interesting as the follow ROV members I met in Colorado!

Nice pix, Don.  I've ridden one of those water buffalos.  Amazingly fast & they sound incredible.  Two stroke triples are not exactly common.

Great Pictures!
I always liked those FJ's!  But what a tiny frame, my 86 Ninja has one of those small box frames.  could not imagane a 1200 in that frame.

I allways thought the FJ's were sexy bikes.  i think those tuned forks would fit on the Vision too.  i love the fairing lines & boy wouldn't a rear disc conversion be nice?

mdskinner, I followed the guy and his wife on the 750 triple for about 20 miles that night, a few though town and the rest on the highway. It seemed to have a very easy to manage motor and power band. My impression would be that your friend should find his 750 triple a good all around bike.

Now I have no idea what (if any) problems these bikes had/have or if they have a support group out there or not either.

The guy on the FJ was sure having to discipline himself on that baby when we drove though downtown Omaha. I hear later him and the guy on a not old Sprint I believe (its blue and you will see part of it in one of the pictures) did a little three digit riding later that night.

With those Nebraska twisties (the sharpest turn is the curvature of the earth) make triple digit riding the only way to get your thrills!   :D  ;)  :D

Wow... looking at those pictures makes me miss my 1975 Kawasaki H1, a 550 3 cylinder two stroke... sounded like a chain saw coming down the road! Awesome pics!

Nice pictures  Don, my first real motorcycle was a 180 yamaha scrambler, It ran mostly on one cylinder. My brother in law had a 850 yamaha with a manta fairing, who remembers those? The waterbuffalo is identical to  my old bike. I put 100,000 mi. on it. I'm getting old, I refuse to grow up.
