Title: spark plug leads
Post by: redxz550inoz on March 12, 2005, 07:44:31 PM
okay - I've been over everything as suggested in the manual (and then some I reckon ::) )
Having NOW discovered a weak to non existent spark from the front lead due to a bad connection between plug cap and lead!
Spark test from the lead is fine. Put the cap back on and it's not.
I did check all this previously and all seemed fine, now however it's not  >:(

Is there a special knack to repairing this connection or is it just easier to replace with a new one?? (haven't had any luck repairing/ reconnecting them yet) I had a quick search but couldn't find anything.

SIGH!  I have a "Vision", that one day I'll get to ride it again  LOL

replace the caps, they break down over time. they are ony a few dollars each (American anyway) for NGK caps. get 45 degree style. I forget what the ohm rating is, but they are close enough to factory.  Replace the wires too while your at it, if the caps are gone figure the wires are too. get non-resistor core wires. some auto shops have it in bulk.

Thanks Lucky - ya beat me to it!

After closer inspection I found I can take the caps apart. they're shot so new caps and leads all round I reckon

I find it amazing that the simplest things come to you after you've walked away from a problem for a while  LOL
