82' parts bike $200

Looks like I did it again. I'm picking up a parts bike for $200.
It is rough, but only has 7900 miles. Gas tank is dented, but not rusted through. Plastic is FUBAR. On top of that it is registered non-op.
I might just rebuild it.

I will get pix in the AM. It is a un-modified 82. Melted fuse box, good forks , seat, and like I stated in my 1st post, the plastic is FUBAR. But I just need a spare engine. the rest can go.
   I did meet another Vision rider when I went to pick up the bike, now I have a riding partner,( he has 2 vision's). His 83 is perfect. with luck he should make the spring CROV.

Wow, That's a pretty creative way to transport a motorcycle. The bike doesn't look to be in that bad of shape. $200 is definately well spent. I paid $250 for a complete spare bike, minus the frame.

I am in the process of having my starter rebuilt... Bike has been without oil now for 3 weeks. I am starting to get a little annoyed. I might have to make you an offer for your starter, if your willing to part with it.....

I agree, I've never seen a bike shipped on the center stand :o!  Looks like you made it anyways.  Looks like a keeper to me.  Low miles

How odd, I've always transported bikes on the center stand.  That's how I got my Vision back home from Paso Robles to Santa Cruz.

Bike on center stand.  All trailer shocks are transported straight to the point where the center stand attaches to the bike.  Not good. Better to transport with both stands up and the bike suspension in compression.  But NOT KILLER COMPRESSION, lest you damage the fork seals.

I always trailer the Vision on the center stand. That's why the trailer has leaf springs.

I always have both the center stand and side stand up. Bike resting on the front and rear wheels. Front wheel against a block of some type and 2 rachet straps. One on each side of the top triple tree, 45^o angle down and past the front tire to the front. compress the front forks about an inch or two and that's all it takes.

If I have a track to put the wheels in, I'll transport with sidestand and centerstand up.  If I don't have some sort of track to keep the wheels from slipping I'll transport on the centerstand usually.

That could be a key point.

Those leaf springs are not real forgiving, not to mention the cheesy little tires(I know, I have one of those disposable trailers).  Any decent bump gets that solid axle trailer airborn.  With the bike resting on it's tires, even though strappped down, will absorb some of the shocks and help keep things in line and under control. If the bike comes of that center stand for ANY reason, guess what?  Those straps you've got all nice and tight...they aint doin d#$K anymore, and your bike may just be going for an unscheduled ride :o !!
