More exhaust questions

Hey all,  When I bought my bike, I noticed someone drilled holes in the back of the exhaust (around the 1 big hole and 4 small holes.  What effect does this modification make?  I could tell that they were done afterwards because the spacing is random.

mainly to increase the noise... just drilling those doesnt do much with the flow as there are barriers further in the back..  i did that with my 98 yamaha v-star 650... just a noise thing. thats all


on my stock exhaust i drilled out the baffle plates Inside the hole.. theres 3 (i think) but my drill only could reach two..  just made it louder.
