Hey Rick, it would be very cool if you could come back to the old homeland for a visit?
I have an idea, maybe you could fly into Buffalo (pretty decent ticket prices that time of the year) and we could figure out how to get you up and back and I think we could supply you with a bike (a Vision of course). Just an idea, but something to throw out to you for thought. We're a full service Vision club up here you know!
Just maybe you could....
Not that I wouldn't love to, but there are several strikes against it . First my dear wife depends on me, as she is disabled. Then there's the problem of money, plus my passport still has my picture taken in 1958 , skinny kid. I'm still a Canadian Citizen, so I assume I'll need a Canadian Passport. Nearest Cosulate is mayby, Pheonix or San Diego , more likley LA. I haven't been back since 1994 and it was 30 years before that. Who knows , I might find a Brinks bag laying it the gutter or i might win the lottery. LOL :D
I completely understand, and we wanted you to know that you continue to be an honourary (Cdn. spelling) OnRov member with all the rights and privileges thereof.
Merry Christmas to you and your lovely wife! Please give her our regards.
CL
As an alternative , I might have my self nailed up in a crate and sent frieght truck . should be cheap enough and I won't need to worry about a motel . I'm not sure what the customs douments should read though. ;D ;D
This is how the CROV guys ended up in Kingman in in "05 , they wanted to ride with me and I couldn't get away , so they came here to ride with me . Say ,how about the OnRov convoying down here!!! It will never happen ,but what a wonderful idea!!!!! :D ;) ;) ;)

In , maybe. :-\ I was hoping you guys from Toronto area would come to Americade. It's just 2 weeks after your ride. I can't usually take vacation times that close together. I always go to Americade. It's always the 1st week in June. This year, June 2-7 , 2008. I am booking reservation by end of January. Right now I have 2 openings for the 4 bed cottage I usually get. If you have sleeping bags, more will fit. The place I stay at is rather inexpensive because it's 8 miles out of town.
:) Sorry Jason, as much as I would love to try Americade, it won't be in 2008.

While living in MN. I rode many times with Guzzi John Pierson . Some times hes used his '83 hybrid Vision and sometimes his XV920 Euro version which had a set of custom pipes . When I added MACs to my vision, its snare drum sounds were accompanied by his XV's basso profundo . it was an interesting sound, to say the least

Hey NV does that mean that you will have the "Black Vision" ready for the spring ride!!! ??
JV
I'm planning on bringing up RedSkunk (the project bike) up this time...
bring the Gootze... we'll swap rides again ;D
I'll forward you some "progress" pics
Ahh, yes the Euro-Special will certainly add an exotic flair to the group. It will be cool to ride with a Euro-Vision in North America. That makes my Black-Chrome Lady ;) a bit more special without you and Joe (assuming you will be tempted to show off the guzzi) competing with me.
ok CDNL, I'll send you progress pics too... but that's it! don't want to spoil the reveal ;)
shown by "appointed only" after that ... ie: ROV rides

I'm on the road for the next month and then up to my neck on road gigs and office work with my other job so I have the bike at the shop getting refreshed. I hope to have the V ready for for the spring! New brakes and fluid flush.
Don't tempt me with the Guzzi!! That is a long ass ride on that 25 year old V seat! I am considering taking the Guzzi up for the Fall ride if there is one and I don't have to work. There is one BIG beautiful alternator on that bike and it loves to send beautiful current to my HEATED VEST and GLOVES!!
I'll be glad to do a bike swap! You'll be shocked how much it is like the Vision. They are kindred spirits 8)
I'll be glad to ride the RedSkunk! That is one cool looking Vision!

I almost had to go on a gig that weekend! I begged the guy to try and find someone else!! I couldn't leave him hanging though. >:( Luckily he got someone else to do the gig, a friend of mine to boot. 8) Glad to give the work to a bud! So f**K making money what good is it if you don't have time for motorcycles!!!!!!!!
Can't wait!
8) Good on yer Joe... 8) Is your ridin' partner, the older gentleman that sorta looks like you, with that funny bike, coming too ??? ;D :D :D :D :D... ;) (Only joking Arthur!!!).
8).......TIGER....... 8)
Now, that's the right attitude Joe! ;) A man has to have principles and then be able to stand up for them. It's a tough job defending those precious opportunities for riding. Everyone wants a piece of you. So far so good for me, still on!
CDNL ;D
Thats funny Tiger! I know he looks older than me but is actually 7 minutes younger. ;D
Arthur, unfortunatly - will not be able to make it. I am trying to get him committed for the fall!
I am going to try to hook up with NV and we will make it up together.
Cndlouie, I think your responsabilities are more important than mine! Very glad you can still go... we did not get to see enough of you last fall. :D

Read the fine print, you say! Okay, okay, now your beginning to sound like a lawyer!
Nice thought... but this virtual thing is highly overated. You don't get to appreciate the humour that goes with the good time.
Good chance to put your 'newly rebuilt' 83 to a real test. Ken's (our Ken) the only guy I know who has crossed the continent with his Vision and does it on a whim. Now that's a real Vision rider! The New York boys know how to ride too, but we need a few more adventurous souls.

That is very kind of you cdnlouie! Some of us are watching our weight though and bikers can be very fatty!! ;D
Maybe you should have oatmeal instead. ;D
Thats fine with me CDNL , I'd sit down for your hearty biker breakfast. A one time treat, isn't going to affect my weight. I'll be there in spirit !!!
I will try not to lead you into temptation Joe ::), but I will reserve a bowl of my traditional oatmeal just for you. However, if you choose to succumb to temptation like the rest of us :D, we will welcome you back into the fold.
We will try to remember to send some pics Rick! Wish you could be here too! :'(
:) Now the snows have aaaaaaall gone and the sunny days are with us, I can turn my attention to getting the back yard ready for the OnROV ride B.B.Q... 8) The "outside" beer fridge was plugged in at the weekend and has a couple of twofour's chilling 8) (That will need to be topped up before the OnROV!!!) The wife wants new shingles on the roof before everyone arrives...time to make a few phone calls, me thinks ;D :D :D :D :D
:) For those who have not been on an OnROV ride it roughly goes like this:
Meet at my place, in Erin, for 8 / 8.15 a.m. on Saturday 17th may. We move off at 8.30 a.m. and ride down to CanadianLou's for a hearty breakfast, (approx' a 45 minute ride). After breakfast we go ride, with a few pit stops for gas, coffee, etc. Eventually we arrive back at my place for a B.B.Q. and a few "wobbly pop's"...party time!!!
Sunday we gather for 9.00 a.m. ('ish"!!!), and ride out for breakfast at a fav' pit stop of mine, (approx' an hour ride). At this point at the last OnROV ride, we said our farewell's to our brothers from south of the border and those in Ontario with long ride's home. The remaining riders will ride for a wee while longer and eventually part and go our separate way's... :'(
I have a few basic rule's:...
1 - We ride in staggered formation and observe the "Rules of the road". (The police here loooove speeder's!!). I ride as "Road Captain" and Big Barrie, my goldwing buddy will ride "Tail Gunner".
2 - On Saturday, after the days ride, the bikes will be garaged till Sunday morning. I
DO NOT allow anyone to drink and ride...period!!! So, if you intend going home on Saturday night, you do not consume alcohol or you make alternative arrangements...
3 - Me casa, sou casa/ My house is your house... Should you wish to stay over, please bring a sleeping bag, just in case there isn't a bed. However, there's plenty of floor space ;).
8) Night_Vision, Joevacc and Wolf are "booked in" to "The Tigers Den" motel ;D :D :D :D :D... 8)

FYI: If anyone gets delayed on Friday night and is running out of steam, you can bunk here in Mississauga to save you the 45 mins north, and be early for breakfast. No "tuck-in" service like at the Tiger's Den but we do have running water and inside facilities ::)
Great way to start our motorcyle summer!
And if you guys visiting Cdnlouie want to pop over for a beer or two then you can as I live only about a 2 miles from Cdnlouie............................as long as the litle missus doesn't mind having bikers over. :o ;D
BTW my neighbors woulf like to see all these Visions in a row parading down my street. ;D
I wonder what will be louder, a Vision with MACS or my neighbor down the strret and his '68 Camaro RS/SS drag car with blown 350 engine and hardly any exhaust. ::) :P ;D

Tiger--Get ready for one LOUD Banana headed your way soon...I think we're going to make it! Man, I had my doubts. That bike has been one ornery spittin', fuming, backfiring, incontinent, external combustion demon. Sid and I adjusted the valves (they were WAY tight), cleaned the carbs, put in the carb kit, and fiddled. And fiddled. Finally yesterday we got the beast to hold idle. Synchronization comes this week and then it's road test time.
The Revision meanwhile has been slowly bleeding to death--oil leaks, the worst of which stems from a badly installed stator cover gasket--gotta clean everything, install a new gasket, put some new Avon rubber on the back, and then---with any luck Andreas and I will set a course for the OnROV Spring Ride! Really looking forward to seeing everyone---wolf.
8) Brilliant Wolf... 8) The "Flyin' Banana" lives again, great work. Looking forward to meeting up with you and your boy...and of course the "F_B". It is shaping up to be a great ride... 8)

2008 OnROV Spring Ride, 17th - 18th May, up-date... .
NEWS HEADLINE'S...Ken & Dorothy are unable to make it due to their respective shift's ...(Hi John, We have both had no luck with altering our shift schedules at this time,so as it stands right now we will not be attending the meet. We will try again for the next one . Thanks again for the invite & here's wishing you all a good time ! Cheers Ken & Dorothy
s3sriniv , from Waterloo, Ontario, bought "Fiddlestick's" Vision at the weekend!!! He is hoping to join us for the ride weekend. She, (Fiddlestick's), is coming up to Belfountain on Saturday, to look at wee Barre's '83 750 Virago. ( Not "big" Barrie with the GoldWing!!).
Barrie and Barre, (Honda & Honda!!) will be at the ride weekend...
Night_Vision and Joevac will be coming up from the state's on the Friday, (16th), at approx' 3 - 4 p.m. Dave should be riding "Red Skunk"...his "new" ride. It looks fantastic!!! E-mail from Joe to-day..."I can not wait"! I am making plans with Dave now and we are shooting for a 3PM arrival time. Should be ready for a "wobbly pop" by then!!! jv
Wolf is 99.9% sure that he will have
"The Flyin' Banana" ready for the ride weekend...as well as his son who will be riding his "old" Vision....
Brian Mathewson will be joining us for breakfast and a ride on the Sunday....
Art', (LilBlaster), will be attending...and has someone able to make windshield's for us!!! I "loaned" him one of mine to take to the guy. Price will be around $70 - $80.00.
vadasz1 will join us, after work, on Saturday...
:) I'm hoping to ride
"The Mistress" one day and
"The Canadian" the other...Does that count as two Vision's... ;)
I picked up a brand new set of hard bag's for "The Mistress" from a guy who had sold his bike before installing them. His new ride has a set fitted!!! They are now fitted and look really good...not to big. I had to remove the rear indicator's, to install them, however, they come with lights which I wired up to the indicator wire's...VIOLA!!!
I think I have everything more or less covered for the "Spring Ride" weekend...Beer in the outside bar fridge, a new roof on the house, new patio furniture and gazebo, etc...AND... CanadianLou talking to "The Boss" about the weather!!!
There are still a few who haven't confirmed if they are coming...(or not), as yet. I would appreciate some feedback please.
I'm looking forward to seeing/riding with everyone, old and new!! Keep the shiny side up... 8)

8).......TIGER....... 8)
Wolf , are you riding an old Francis Barnett? ;D ;D
Rick--close! Actually got the Flying Banana name from an early Brit bike, a Wooler--they were in production from the early teens til the 1950's--there was a yellow and black one from 1919 --the FB.
I visited my relatives in Montreal in 1964 , while there I went to a very large motorcycle shop , to look around. There I met some fellows who were in a competition club and one was Provincial champion , in observed trials , riding a "frantic bitch".
While we were standing at the curb a truck pulled up, towing a trailer. On the trailer was a twin engine ,BSA, dragster. A slightly built fellow got out and introduced him self and was answering our questions . I learned later he was Canadian, National Number 1 Evon Duhamel. Now you know the rest of the story!
:) As we stand, Night_Vision, Joevac, Wolf and his son Andreas will be staying at my place on Friday and Saturday night...Beds pre-booked at "The Tiger Hotel" ;D :D :D :D :D :D ;)
Local Visionaries attending will be: Your truely!! Canadian_Lou, Brian_Mathewson, Lead_Deficiency, Lil'Blaster, s3sriniv and vadazs1... 8) There will be three or four non-vision's riding with us... :P ;D :D :D :D :D
We will be leaving my place on Saturday at
8.30 a.m. SHARP!!! and heading south, down to Mississauga for breakfast, courtesy of Canadian_Lou and his wife Jane, (Thank you both). The ride will then be heading north for our "mystery tour" run. Jason...e-mail sent in reply ;)
:) Sadly all good things come to an end... :'(
Although the weather was either wet...
sometimes very!!! or dry and
really windy, enough at times, to have you riding at a 45 degree angle with the cross winds coming off of the open fields!!!
EVERYONE had a great week-end... 8)
:) Those that wanted to ride and have some fun where there and raring to go by 8.15 a.m. We moved off from my place on Saturday, which started off with rain, rain and some more rain ::), at 8.30 a.m. as planned. The plan being to make breakfast at Canadian_Lou's church...which we did. A superb breakfast buffet of: Fruit juice's, tea, coffee, fresh fruit, bacon, eggs, sausages, waffle's, muffins...can you say "Mmmmmmmmmm" !!! Thank you C_N, Jane, (wife of C_N) and Rob, (C_N's son-in-law) for a great start off. Leaving the church...in the rain!!...we headed north. Our first stop, for a "photo shoot", was at a Ukrainian church, built in similar style to that built in the Ukrain...beautiful workmanship. We contiued north up to the village of Belfountain, a local biker haunt, only to find that the usual roar of bike's of varying makes/size, etc was not to be!!! Hu...fair weather people!!! Down through the "Forks of the Credit River, a nice twisty road (were I nearly lost "The Canadian" on a very tight, wet, down hill grade elbow :o) up McClaren and Willowby (?) Road, out throu' Orangeville and onto the Hockley Valley road to the village store, in Hockley for coffee and a light lunch...more food!!!
We continued our adventure, with Lead_Deficiecy as lead dog!!! north up Airport road, River Road and eventually stopped in the village of Creemore...coffee and, for some, a smoke break :o It was now in the 5 o'clock range, so decided to head back to my place...an hours ride away 8)
Back at mine, the B.B.Q. was fired up, beer bottles were being cracked open and the B.S. had began to take place :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D... ;)
Lil'Blaster being the butt of some ridicule for breaking down no less than three times because of...a faulty, original
fuse box!!! which was still in use in his recently acquired '83 ::) Running repairs had been performed by Joevac and his on-board repair kit, to enable LilBlaster to remain with us and not left at the side of the road as a "casualty of war" ;D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
At this point, his Vision being parked in my garage, I pulled out the required tools and with-in 10 minutes...
VIOLA...surgery was complete 8) I cut out the OEM unit, cast it into the recycle box and installed four seperate blade style fuse holders and modern blade fuses... 8)
That done we eventually sat down to eat, drink, drink some more... and just chill out. The "party" wrapped up around midnight. In all we had covered 221 miles, that is 354 Km's!!! Not bad for day one, eh!!!
Day two started with a much smaller group. Wolf and his son Andreas, heading out north for a long sweep west and home. Night_Vision, Joevac, Brian_Mathewson, Barre (with his Magna) and I, headed out in...yes you guessed it...pouring rain. We headed for "The Breezy Corners restuarant" on Hwy 6, which is on the way to the U.S. border. Once we had filled up the bodies with a good hearty breakfast, we said our farewells and each headed, in the pouring rain, for home. Joevac having a ten hour ride to get home and Night_Vision nearly six hours to his... :o Now that is dedication for ya !!!
The weather could not, in any way, spoil the overall freindship forged at this weekend meet. Pictures will, over the next day or so, be posted...be patient people ;D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
I will let the others fill in their coments, views and opinion's. However, I would like to thank every-one, a cast of thousand's ::), for making this such a great week-end. People like: My wife Cathy for doing all the house and food prep' work 8) Canadian_Lou's wife and son-in-law...Jane & Rob, for a superb Saturday breakfast 8), and to all those who attended the ride(s): Night_Vision, Joevac, Wolf, Andreas, Lead_deficiency, Fiddlesticks, Brian_Mathewson, Lil'Blaster, Bowzer and I must not forget our star...RickG!!! Yes, RickG...you will see him soon, in pictures from the OnROV ride!!! Also thanks to Barrie (on his GoldWing), Barre on his Magna and last but not least, Dave on his 400 Yamaha maxim.
Without them all, I would have had a very wet, windy, lonely, riding week-end :o ;D :D :D :D :D :D :D 8)
8).......TIGER....... 8)
We're back! yup, we! Joe decided to forgoe another 5 or 6 hours in the rain and eventual darkness.
my wife said she figured he'd be back and never "un made" the bed :D :D
thanks again to Tiger and Cathy... CDNL and Jayne..... and it was good seeing everyone again...
and meeting new people... it was especially nice to meet RickG face-2-face :D :D :D
too bad i couldn't get rid of the V's electrical gremlin, but had a great had an excellent time, thanks for the r.t.e. food was fantastic!
Wwow! Another great ride, guys--thanks so much to everyone concerned, and especially to Cathy & Tiger and CdnL& Jane--the logistics of such a large ride are considerable and once again everything was great.
So good to see everybody again. Thanks also for bringing young Andreas into the fold--he had a super ride!
Kudos to the Canadian enthusiasts for sticking with the plan regardless of weather and having a successful meet. Getting together with Visionaries always tends to warm the soul after such challenging riding conditions.
Wow, looks like I missed a great time. I don't have my bike yet, as you can still see it's in Tiger's Den, but I sure wish I could have been at the evening BBQ. unfotunately my 6 year old lady came down with the chickenpox and i didn't want to risk possibly spreading it to others, as well as I wanted to be with her while she is at home. I'm hoping that I can join the Fall Ride and meet you all. ;D ;D
Well I am finally back. What a great time. First off I want to thank the wives of NightVision, Tiger, and Cdnlouie!!! These women have taken us into their homes, feed us and gave us drink.
Their hospitality knows no bounds. How they came to be married to these common bikers is remarkable. :D :D
The ride on Saturday was fantastic! Riding with a pack of Visions is quite a sight to see.
In the end I rode a total of 1,150 miles (1,851 km). My V ran flawlessly but I still got to practice my road side repairs on Lil'Blaster bike that was not road worthy the day before! He got it running the night before the ride at 10:30PM and left his house at 7:00AM Saturday to get to Tigers. He made the whole ride!! ;) ;)
I don't know how NV got across the border unscathed but I managed to get my bags searched! I wanted to get the guy to do a cavity search to try and find my underwear! ;D ;D ;D
Thank you guys I can't wait to see you all again!
P.S. I don't think Tiger mentioned that this may very well be to largest group of Visions since '82/'83 Japan!
P.S.S.
I thought of a Lymric on the way home from NV's this morning that sums it up...
There once was a man from Rhinecliff
Who thought that his Vision was spiff
Took quite a long ride, NightVision at side
Now he's finally home and not wet
8)
nice limerick!
Joe didn't mention all the fun we had at the Thruway rest areas..... there was a Suzuki DL that stoppped a couple times at the same stops... must get about the same gas mileage :D and a couple of other suckers poor souls riding Sunday....
and the truckers that laughed at us at every stop.... until I mentioned that they were working and we weren't ;D
slideshow should be posted tonight
here's the link to the OnRov Spring 08 slide show... it takes awhile to load.... don't tell RickG about his cameo....
or he'll be downloading this file all night :D

To paraphrase:
God I love the smell of Visions in the morning.. smells like....
Old Spice & Leather! ;D ;D ;D ;D
gotta say, i feel much younger than i did an hour ago! LOL!!!
Glad you guys had fun, i'll make it up there for a ride one of these days!

I think it would be great if there was an a post listing the pics and identifying the various riders in the ONROV and COROV pictures . Who is who?
Good Idear,
I added names to the COROV pics I posted.
Ahrg, once again... I couldn't do everything in one weekend... Glad many of you found a way to ride!!!
I did catch my quota of trout, but I have to say, riding is still more fun in my happy scale of leisure activities!

Sorry to say I was the fat A$$ that was on the gold wing. (I am not really fat I just look that way in pictures!) ;)
It was nice to have you along RicK, Tiger popped you out of the bag at every stop!
P.S. it was NV that could not wait to get a picture of you on the wing! I couldn't wait to help! ;D
Token female eh?? I resemble that remark hehe ;)

Just got back and time to catch up on Vision News. I was thinking of NV & Joe all Sunday morning when the heavens opened and poured out a flood :o. Man, Joe you are a class act 8)! I admire you tenacity for riding. I left for Chicago on Sunday after a terrific whirlwind Vision weekend, which was fabulous! It was great to see the "band of brothers (& sister)" again.
It was good to ride with Rick G. (I'm standing with my arm on his shoulder in the photoshow). Great job on the pics NV.
Terrific hospitality at Tiger's & Cathy's. This is an event! Way to go everyone for the great spirit!
We are starting to get a bit of history under our belt now and it just keeps getting better.
Until the next time... ;)
