Wandering the internet I found a reference article I thought might star in a Post thread. ;)

So, when you find yourself reading an interesting technical article, add its URL into this string.

It'll give the bathroom laptop guys something to read in the can.

If you ever wondered about...
Cylinder head design, go to

http://www.beautyofspeed.com/data/cylinder_headtech/

Here is one, to start.
"useful rule-of-thumb: simply multiply piston speed by the ratio of cylinder bore and pipe areas.

Nominal gas speed were well below 200 feet/second in most vintage bikes, but in the AJS 7R of the 50's it was up to 220 feet/second. By 1972 the small diameter pipes on H-D's XR750 raised that engine's exhaust velocity to just above 300 feet/sec. The Triumph 650 TT Special I used to set a Bonneville record (and acquire an abiding dislike of Wendover, Utah) years ago also had small pies and 300-plus exhaust gas speeds. It had 1 3/8-inch pipes, which almost everyone thought too small. My slide rule said they were the right size, and the larger-diameter pipes we tried slowed the bike."

..are there any Tuners out there publishing the state of the art?

Go to
http://www.mototuneusa.com/ Read #16 first, He describes how the V's intake ports could be the root of the flat spot. and he continues the explanation with #19. You need velocity to keep charging when the piston turns around. Really, this guy is worth reading.

check out his porting ideas, its a newsletter, you sign up your email on the right below the first advertisements. The ads pay, he does not junk mail you.

Well worth the extra cost in snowy & rainy climates.  They do tend to squeal more when making tight corners in coated parking lots, though.

If you have an accident on a motorcycle, it's always your fault. Tough call, but it has to be that way. You're in the right, and dead -on a bike. The principle is not to have any accident. If you're involved in an an accident, it's because you did not anticipate. Then, by default, you failed.

How much Horsepower should a Fuel Injected Vision without and with NOS make?

And back into his site to check out the wheel mod he did. I found this from MegaSquirt. If your thinking FI for a project the VMax/Vision thread is coming together around the microSquirt and 70 degrees.

I don't suffer from insanity....I enjoy every minute of it!

Why do women always go in pairs? Have you ever heard a guy address a group, 'hey, I gotta go to the can. Anybody want to join me?'
