You check your battery voltage 5 times a week.
Go ahead and add to it.
LOL.. I check it every time I start my bike!
You know you own a Yamaha when you can change out a stator in under 5 minutes!
David
When you have friends like this! :)
when you can change out a stator up against a tree, with out doing an oil change, you probably own a vision!!
When you discover you're the first rider of the bike since 1985.
When you start your very first post off with "I found this bike that had been sitting outside for about 12 years...."
David
When the dealer bursts out laughing when you try to order a spare part
:-\ When you realise that there is
NO SUCH THING as a free/cheap Vision, period!!!
8).......TIGER....... 8)
When you mention to a dealer that you rebuilt the carbs, and he asks if you want a job...
Good one Brian.
I might also add:
When you have enough extra parts to make another complete bike.
When you have a starter "rock"....or know what one is. :-)
David
if boxes arrive at your house from multiple countries, and they all say "used motorcycle parts" you might own a vision
if you posses more tech data on your bike than the dealer ever saw--- chances are , you own a vision
if you build a cement block bike garage on the side of the house in case of hurricaines-- you just may own a vision ( mine will hold three)
if you wife uses your laptop and gets confused by the rov home page- you own a vision
If the ROV Homepage IS your homepage. :)
David
wait a sec,,,, you mean yours isnt ?
...you decide to take off, dip and check your carbs because it isnt running just so without a second thought. Then while your at it surf ebay for a second pair to dip, just in case.

haha or when he says "get rid of it. Sell it as quick as you can or you will regret it " lmao
or when you tell teh dealer you have a Vision and they respond with "running?".
Then you show them and they say, "Wow, I haven't seen one of those in over 15 years....looks pretty good too."
David
you only type 2 letter in the ebay search .....XZ
You start rewinding your own stators.
Now that, is a hard core Vision owner. Was that funk or kid jedi? Maybe its more of you than we think.
Think about that for a minute.
You decide to rewind it , how many people outside of an electric motor shop would even consider it?
I even asked a local shop how much, he just shook his head and said no thanks. Even after I said he'ld have plenty of work.
Then asked a buddy who's an E/E about it and he said it would be doable, even for me. Uhm, thanks, I think.
When my stator went south in 1982, I was working for a transformer company and had access to most anything needed to rewind the stator. Yamaha replaced the stator under warranty and I kept extra wiring at home for years. Rewinding a stator by hand is too time consuming and fraught with enough potential problems that I wouldn't even consider doing it today. Don't know if I'm getting lazier or smarter. Who cares, do what you enjoy. BDC
That was kid,, but mine is on the edge and if he had success I was considering it.. Looked like a HUGE job.
if you rewind a crap stator, you are gonna get a crap stator. you just have to redesign it out of a non conducting core, or use an heavy epoxy that is 1/2 an inch thick. then i called ricks and examined theirs, and guess what they already did. and for ~140 to my hot little hands it was really easy. rewinding a stator takes 8 hours the first time you do it.
You know you are a Yamaha vision owner when you start laughing over a sight pun
You know you are a Yamaha vision owner when you notice how Yamaha is readable backwards in the rear view mirror of your truck wile you tow her home
You know you are a Motorcycle owner when you have explained to your significant other that you are actually in love with the bike and she is just your mistress
You know that you own a vision when she wouldn't have it any other way
You know you are a vision owner when you get M/E credit for making a fuel injection system
You know you are a Yamaha vision owner when you get distracted at the pump by a vision fan when you over fill the tank and it starts pissing gas for 5 min
You know He was a Yamaha vision owner when he laughs and says he dosent miss that part!
You know you are a Yamaha vision owner when you have thought about keeping a tube of rtv, a 5mm allen key and a spare stator in your bike tool kit
You know you are a Yamaha vision owner when the parts guy starts to cry when you walk through the door

Gee i wish i could rewind *MY* stator. That might be a fun project.
Anyway. More stator stuff:
Have you researched any electrical theory? You know, they dont make armature cores out of iron or steel for fun, it's for a reason, i'll let you find out why :)
... When you go outside each morning thinking " What can i fix next? "
I do blame you all for the rise in my credit card debt !!!
But i do greatly appreciate the help ! :)
here is something cool http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2004/02/040203235638.htm
Thats a cool site!!
When you have a friend named TIGER. 8) 8)
When they say: "What the hell is that???"
And I said, What is this? "It feels like a beemer!"
LOL only faster!!!
When you meet you neighbor walking the dogs who was a yamaha tech for 15 years and he looked ready to run away in horror when you said vision and carbs in the same sentence.
LOL
