Title: Pri G gasoline treatment
Post by: Walt_M. on September 15, 2010, 04:01:15 PM
Has anyone tried this stuff? My boat has been setting up for 2 years and has a full tank(166 gal) of gas. I used Stabil the last time I filled it thinking it would set maybe 3-4 months. Now that I'm thinking of putting it back in the water, I'm not sure if I should just pump out the tank and go fresh or try this gas treatment. The manufacturer thinks it is great but I would like to find out if anyone here knows anything about it. It has been on the market for several years but for some reason they don't advertise.

Several things about gas & gas treatments:
1) Ethanol gas draws water out of the air & into your fuel. doesn't take long either.
2)Ethanol binds to water easier than it binds to fuel (carbon)
3)ethanol weakens fiberglass, not good if you have a fiberglass tank in the boat...
4) Premium fuel has better additives.
5) some aftermarket additives will delay ethanol from seperating from the fuel, none will prevent it completely.
6) NONE of the addititves on the market will prevent ethanol from drawing water out of the air

If you use premium, non ethanol gas & stabil, you could get 6 months storage out of it...
