Title: "SAVE THE LUCKY V"
Post by: akvision on July 07, 2009, 06:52:04 PM
You know the drill...

You can get a chance at a new rebuilt Tim Parrott XZ550 Stator with a $25 Raffle ticket with all proceeds going to: KEEP LUCKY'S V IN CAPABLE APPRECIATIVE HANDS.  The odds are based on how much expression there is.  My hope is that there will be at least 50 or more.   I will keep you posted on the odds #.

I am donating the cost of the Stator rebuild and the postage to the winner.  Lucky and I are exempt from the drawing.   You have sometime to get it together.

Over the years Lucky has provided support to this group and is one of the primary sponsors of correct, clear and helpful information about the XZ550.  I know that this presention of information has saved me many $$$$$.   I know that many of the ROVr's have benifited.

So now it is time to give back.   I know that times are tough for alot of folks and give up just one night at the favorite watering hole and the chance to get a stator for $25 bucks... what a deal, and you will feel good too.

Tiger is going to send me the CORE... thanks T.

I will order the Stator when I recieve the CORE...estimated time 2 weeks.
Parrot takes about 4 weeks to get them out.   I am estimating that we can have the drawing by approx August 21.

We will also run a parts donation log on this thread.

I know that this will take a leap of faith, I promise you that I will carry this out faithfully.

Check this post for further updates and comments.

Night Vision, I will get back to you... thanks for the offer.  I need to start a list...
Rick G has some stuff.  I think Rhpaw has some stuff, maybe a spare unrebuilt vision carb from the BlueV
anwer this thread and I will get the list going.

We have two already!  Thanks for stepping up.

Thanks to Tiger, a CORE is on its way to me.  As soon as I get it, I will get the order in.

Common, guys a little planning and a warm heart, this is for a good thing.

I was raised to believe that "if you are not proactive, then nothing ever gets done" and if you never try, you never succeed!

Thank you all for the interest.

I think he can...I can do it on my site.

I wonder too if Ron would give it a temporary stickie thread - kind of like lucky's brake bar bolt caution - to keep it on top of all the other posts.

I'll send out a message on my forum site to all the members...but I'm sure they all read the posts here too.

Was thinking maybe the Paypal account should be in Lucky's name?
(maybe he has one already?)

So all donations, auction payments, etc would go to the one account....

I checked with my partner about using our new auction site for this, but
it's not ready yet. Besides, we could get more exposure at ebay right now.

I believe raffles cannot be set up at ebay....against their policy.

I can set up a raffle site on my server if James agrees.
I can also help with setting up any auctions, as long as all the item details are sent.

Let me know James....

Lucky has a "donate" Paypal button on the top 3rd of his main screen on his website at www.xz550.com . I'm not sure though if that is a current paypal address for him or not...I' think it is.  Its the same type Icon the Ron has on the ROV site for supporting his site.

One important consideration about Paypal is that paypla keeps a percentage of all monies deposited into a paypal account as a "fee", which I think is either 5 or 10%.

Pop, negatory on the front turns.. the reason you're running fazer signals is because you had a set of crap on front.
-the fazers look better anyway.

Hey all,

I've been watching this thread, & My family & I really appreciate what your all doing...
Maybe at some point i'll start a blog to explane it all, possably help someone keep from getting into the situation i'm in, but for now i just want to say Thank You!

I'm trying to keep a bad situation from getting worse & i still may have to sell my original (Touring) bike regardles of what happens here because time is a factor. iI still have my Cafe bike & have NO plans on selling it. (it's waaay too much fun)

I've also recieved a couple of donations to the site & want to say Thank You to those people as well.  if you do that & want a DVD, let me know, as that's usually how i sell those.

i'm still checking ROV & email at work most days, & have installed Netzero at home, but will probably cancel it after the first free month because it really sucks my system down, & i have a decent PC/

Again, Everyone, THANK You!

back in the saddle.. thanks KIWI.. will be in contact...
gotta get more enthusiasm going here..

Here is a note.. you heard it here and it's free....

THE RECESSION IS OVER.. REALLY!  IT IS OVER!

We are on the mend and the crank back will take a long time.  But, It is over.

It will take the real people some time to actually know it.  Remember this, when you know good times are here, you better hunker down.

That is sound advice.  Now is the time.  Check back with me in November.  I do not want to hear any comment until then.

If I am wrong.  I will admit it.. but we have to wait til November.

So with that in mind..... One of our ROV'ers has helped with access to a Pay Pal account... Does that make it easy.  The funds can go directly to Lucky.
Am working on it... just follow this thread..

Tiger, I been checking the PO BOX for the 'BODY' if you know what I mean.

I got company this week from 'outside' and presence will be on and off.

Hey, thanks for all the good ideas and help so far.. we have a ways to go... pony up..

UPDATE:;;

1. THE CORE IS HERE. ....... :o :o :o        THANK YOU TIGER!

2. THE STATOR IS ORDERED. ::) ::) ::)  today 7/30/09   http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1982-84-yamaha-xz550-vision-stator-rebuilt_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp4634Q2em332Q2el1262QQhashZitem29ff4d5334QQitemZ180376916788QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

3. Musicweb is supporting this project by providing a template to commit to the Raffle.  WATCH FOR THE THREAD AND LINK.  You will be able to support this project by check, MO, or Paypal.  easy!

4. Now lastly, I need email committments on "offered parts" that I can post on this thread, include a suggested donation amount.

So, when it comes to it.. I will post the item and a suggested donation... first come, will be first to serve, and recieve.  If you donate it, then you are responsible to take the time to ship it.  The USPO had a flat rate box Priority system.  It is very reasonable.

Now is the time to save your beer money (scotch money??) and put it to a good cause..  I am doing my best to make this a  success and now I need your help to make this a success.   We are a family, so lets pull together and help our friend.

What a deal,,, a chance for the affordable sum of 25 skins for a new american well built stator by Tim Parrott.

Now, I am waiting on you.

The raffle site is now complete for those wishing to support the cause.

There are 2 options to buy a ticket....or tickets...

You can use Paypal, or send a Bank check or Money Order to akvision.

Either way, you must fill out the entry form so you can be entered in the database and get your ticket numbers.

Anyone who has sent a check to akvision already has to fill out the form and choose that option so you get your ticket number(s).

Todays UPDATE:

Ok, We are up.   Some minor and  impovement changes:

musicweb has provided the computer knowhow to run this totally electronic...you know electrons moving and hitting on all two cylinders and water cooled with a shaftdrive and mono shock... just too cool. 8) 8) 8) 8)

GO TO THIS SITE AND BUY A CHANCE TO GET A TIM PARROT STATOR!  $25 BUCKS  WHAT IS THAT?????/ TWO GUYS DRINKING 3 BEERS AT THE FAV SPOT.

"Save Lucky's V"

http://sidbid.com/raffle/

When you click, YES.  You automatically are in the system.  You have your ticket. The electrons  remember.

Here is the change.... I do not have to get my precious sweet CFP wife to do a thing.. IT WILL ALL BE DONE AUTOMATICALLY BY "ELECTRO-MANAGEMENT RANDOM COMPUTER DRAWING"     Too cool "musicweb"

You can do this by Paypal direct to Lucky or you can send me or him a check and you will get a ticket.  It would be better to send the check direct to Lucky... he is the benificiary after all and it keeps my bookkeeping duties at a minimum.

The drawing will be automatic and on AUGUST 21 @1200hrs Alaska Daylight time.

musicweb?? if I missed something... help me out here.

So, pony up and thanks for your support.

I am still looking for a concise list of donation parts and a suggested donation amount.

A few updates....

Due to Paypal limitations on raffles, we can no longer use the Paypal option
on the site. They already wrote to me when using my test account.

I'll change to mail in only.

I guess they informed Lucky also.... sorry about that.....

It's fine to send the checks to Lucky direct, but I will need his address.

Lucky, you can PM me with your address if this is OK.

Everything else stays the same....

I understand your feelings,,, but understand ours too... You have saved me money and time and maybe even saved my life with the info contained here-in. I like to think of people, who have helped me for no reason at all, as being my friend. There arent many out there. But, you are one. This is an opportunity for me to give back. Dont feel bad about that,, I feel its a privilege, and an honor, to give back to someone who has helped us all, and me personally, so much. Dont feel belittled,, feel as though you are being honored.  By a group of guys who are your friends. As has been said before,, I hope its enough to carry you through.. So, dont thank me, this is my little way of saying thank you.

No body seems to be interested in a custom fork crown , so I'll substitute, a fork brace , Bids should be 10.00 . Here's a chance to get one , for a song, this particular one is no longer available . I have the same one on my bike. I'll try to post a pic.
Same deal, send it to Lucky, or his pay pal, marked "Fork brace"
Also , send me a PM , with the transaction number. If you don't have Pay Pal , just  send Lucky a PM for his street address and send him a money order, then send me a PM, that you sent him the 10.00 dollars.

No, since it is not a government program of taking over business :-)  More of a community taking care of fellow members..

Fox News has enough wind of their own...

I stopped by the shop that did my saddle bags to donate a little more blood today to pay for the job.  :o  Ended up getting one of the guys numbers that was interexted in my bike.  I called him and told him about Lucky's bike and he actually lives close to ACE where he works and has seen it there.  He says hes gonna call him and take a look at teh bike.

Cross your fingers and say your prayers.  Maybe he will buy it...and we will have another SoROV member.  He's got a fully dressed and customized harley but He's looking for and older bike that's fun to ride and tinker with.  I Think He'll have fun...don't y'all?

Hi guys,,,, just got in from Yes Bay.. In Alaska you can still pick the fruit from the trees and not have to pay...

We went to Yes Bay with a buddy ( yeah and exharleyflatracker) we set nets and pickedup 60 Sockeye Salmon for the three of us...the state allow 20 each in posession.  Now I have my partial winter supply of Salmon... Silvers are yet to come.. the sockeye is the best and reddest of the salmon and I think the best eating..

Just like picking fruit... the cleaning is messy and we recycle for crab/shrimp bait.

We are clicking along... thanks for the support.     David.... if that guy buys the Lucky V... He better pay.... in the end it will be Lucky's decision... I am ok with that..

I know that the current effort has helped and is really more meaning full then the dough..it's the "family".

So anyway we will proceed... the drawing is going to happen on August 21 at NOON "Alaska Daylight time.   The computer will snag a winner..

I will give you all an update sometime this week..

Rick.... I exempted my self from the stator thing... But would anyone object if I made a bid on the Fork Brace...    I will watch for a couple of days.. and if no one objects... you have to outbid me to get it..

Thanks for the donation.. as I understand it the bids will close on August 21 too???

I understood from Rick's post about 5 up in this thread that the fork brace was $10 raffle rather than an auction.  I have already forwarded mine to Lucky via paypal, and dutifully emailed my trans ID to Rick.
Be in there by all means.

Its actually a raffle , maybe I should have made it an  auction. But any one really wanting it, could buy more chances and increase the chance of winning it.

Heh heh heh..

Its an 83 monoshock in decent condition.  It is missing the plastic collar for seeing where your preload is set.  You can still make the adjustments, it just doesn't have the collar with the numbers on it.  There is also a small nick in the shaft that is above the highest compression point....unless you weigh a whole lot and compress it all the way.  Its just a small nick and can probably be buffed down very easilly.
Heres some pics:

Hey, Rick

I donated 40 slammers for four chances at that Fork Brace.  Contact Lucky to verify.

Ok we have a "FORK BRACE" from Rick G.  This is a cool must have handing goodie.  Looks cool too.

We have a 1983 servicable stock shock from Yellow Jacket.

The suggested donation is $10 per ticket.  Hit the donate button on Lucky's site and note or pm Lucky and he will put you in the drawing.  You need to note which item you are wanting.

Lucky will do the drawing sometime on August 21 at his convenience and announce the winners.  The folks doing the donation..please PM the winners and send it to them the best way for you.

Rick and YJ add to this as required.  Thank you for supporting this effort.

Keep it coming. Good luck everyone and especially to you Lucky.  The name must have a meaning.

So after reading this whole tread I am a little lost on what to do. I want to help out so tell me if this is right.

Send the $ to lucky via his donation page and then send him a PM for what raffle we want into?

Are there 3 raffles 1 for the stator for 25$ a ticket. 1 for the fork brace for 10$ a ticket and 1 for the monoshock at 10$ a ticket. Right, wrong, totally off base? And if I don't want anything in return can I just do a strait donation though the paypal site?

You got it straight.  Your last sentence is a clear summary!

Thanks for supporting the effort.   The drawings are next week.

I saw where Tim Parrott has my money... and I am still waiting to the rebuilt unit to arrive here in Ketchikan.  Maybe next week.
Last time I bought one it took the whole two weeks to arrive.  Will let you know when it arrives.

THE STATOR HAS ARRIVED.    I will ask rhpaw to post the actual item.  (I don't have the computer expertise.)

Time is running out... if you want a chance at it then go to:

The drawing is Friday Noon, Alaska Time.

The odds are very good.  Don't miss being "Lucky".

I want to thank everyone involved with the stator, shock & fork brace raffles, You guys have made a world of difference, i'm definatly keeping the bike. Things are still tight & tough, we're not out of the woods yet, but we can see the light at the end of the tunnel (sorry about the cliches).

sorry for the delay on this end of raffle note, I threw my back out the other night & haven't really felt like sitting in the chair at my desk, & haven't been at work (faster connection) a couple of days (wahh wahh wahh, lol)

You are an amazing group of friends & I hope we someday have a chance to ride with each of you!

Thanks!, --Lucky

So, guys where are we... please.

Like we did the fork brace, they send $ to  Lucky with note 'for Shock' and Lucky lets you know the name of person and ticket(s)  bought.
@ $10 ea ?????

then you pick a date and close the issue and pick a winner...

all simple clean and controled..

Then you get to send the shock to the winner... Announce it in this thread.

Thanks for your help.

I know I'm foreign and I don't know how things are done in the United States of America but where I come from raffles don't just stop without a little ceremony.  Here there would have been a little count down, a message from the sponsor, a little flag waving,  beers and manly hugs all round, and mighty self congratulation for having done a good deed.  Most importantly (to me as a ticket holder) there would have been an actual drawing, and an actual winner, and the receipt by someone of the grand prize - in theis case a shiny shiny fork brace.

Now, I might seem a little impatient here, but feck, it is a fork brace, which is very exciting.  I can't afford one any other way than this, and it did cost me enough to sponsor three cataract surgeries in Africa, or pay MBA fees at a Samoan university.

What's going on?

Glad to help !!  Sorry if I haven't been here much. I took on a duct installation job , that was too much for an old man (needed the money)  and I went through 4 helpers before I got one that would stay.
To top it off so a 3 day job took over two weeks.  BDC and Tiger sent carbs to be done , QBS sent calipers and a petcock to go through and Kojo has his bike here for carbs . I've been burning the midnight oil!
