That "someone" bought,,someone,, a pair of A* boots as well as a textile jacket and pants at the last motorcycle show.  And that "someone" is interested in riding soon but possibly on a Viagara.  "Someone" may become Fiddlesticks Viagara riding partner.  HAHA

I highly recommend them... nice rides... and with all that viagra you always have a kickstand!!

My someone has the same idea as someone else.

They are thin, light, easily handle-able bikes.. I think some folks oughts look into em. They say, (they being some magazine, cant remember which) that the 86 1100 is, I believe it was #2 on the list, of all time best cruiser bikes. They made that Virago XV1100 for YEARS!! EASY to get parts for. The first generation Viragos are a bit harder to get parts for. Most parts are ok to find on ebay, but exhaust,  in terms of options, is very limited. The first gens also had a starter problem. I just found out, today, in fact, that they used that same system up through 85.  Its should NOT be a deal breaker for someone inclined. The parts are get-table, on ebay and even new, and they last a while and you get used to it, I pull out the old, buy new, regrind old and have it ready for replacement when the new wears, much like stators on the vision!! The virago is easy to work on and it seems to "want to run"... What I mean by that is this, and its just like beemers. It doesnt have to be real close to perfect to run.. You can be way off and it will still run. I like that. Anyway, Im getting windy but I highly recommend them. I have a first gen 82 920. She's my pride and joy, so far. (vision isnt done)

It may seem like a long way off buddy, however, by the time people get themselves and their rides ready, spring will have sprung and shake down rides are needed...for both bike and rider to get back in the "groove"!!!

There will always be some changes due to work, vacation, Illness, etc...but the majority will be there on the day... ;)

:) Last year we had three people ride the Fall Ride, who were new to group riding...and came through with flying colours. I'm proud of our safety record since helping to form these rides a few years... 8)

vadasz, to truly enjoy these rides, you need to get your Vision ready NOW...so you can both get some much needed road time under your belts, as soon as the weather breaks. Group riding is fun but takes a lot of extra concentration...from everyone but especially newbies buddy.

 :) Here are some initial, basic details for your calendar... ;)

Saturday 22nd May 2010. We will meet up, as normal, at "The Breezy Corners Restaurant" at 9.30 a.m.

The restaurant is located on Highway #6, just south of the village of Freelton. This is between Highway #401 and Highway #403. Exit Hwy 401 at Brock road/Guelph South and head south, past Freelton, and you will see the restaurant on the left side a couple of minutes out of Freelton. Those coming from the Lake Ontario end, head north on Highway #6 toward Guelph, the restaurant is approx' a 5 minute ride from the #403 and will be on your right side...The restaurant is next door to a Tim Horton's and a Shell gas station.

After breakfast we will be heading in a northern('ish!!) direction toward... :-X Sorry, that is all, for now!!

Sunday 23rd May 2010, we will meet again at Breezy Corners for 10 a.m. After breakfast we will run down to the border to say farewell to our American brother(s) and then go for a wee ride out...

Normal rules apply... :-\
Come with your "Happy Head" on.... 8)

We ride in staggered formation at all times... 8)

We ride and observe all (o.k. most!!) of the rules of the road... 8)

YOU are responsible for the rider BEHIND you, so use your mirrors...if they stop, YOU stop... :o

There will be several "pit stops" along the way for gas/coffee/smoke/pee, etc, etc... ;D

:police: For every rider, no exceptions...If you consume any alcohol, your bike keys are mine!!! 

It is a Spring ride, so dress accordingly... ;)

We have been very lucky in that we have never had, in five years, a major brake down or, thankfully, any serious injury. Everyone has enjoyed themselves and got home safe and sound. Please lets continue the trend...REMEMBER, safety begins with YOU!!

I'd love to attend your spring ride but at 2615 miles from the closest ferry terminal I think I'd better look for other Vision riders closer to me!  So......Anyone west of the Rockies having a nice long ride this spring?  I'm in the far NW corner of Washington and would consider a ride as far as central CA.  April?  May?

Start a separate thread, regarding a ride, and you will get a better response my friend ;) I know we have some Visionaries over your way and a wee bit over the Canadian border that you may be able to hook up with for a ride or two...There is certainly a goodly amount in CA... 8)

 :) We have ELEVEN WEEKS  until the 2010 annual spring ride, soooooooooooo...although we still have a few more weeks of "old man winter" to go, its time to start getting those rides awoken from hibernation and doing some pre spring routine maintenance and fixes :o ::) ;)

If you put her to sleep right...and have a fully charged battery, with a few nice words, she should fire up for you pretty easily... 8) If not, you may need your carbs cleaned...Aaaaaaaaaah!!!

      These bikes love the long hauls, a couple of days out you get into a rythme,I was down to the 25th in Colorado-it was an awesome ride no gliches good weather great to meet some "wet coasters" even though I had to head back after only two days.

        after going for a ride - use your hand to check both front & rear wheel bearings area's for excessive heat. If you can't hold your hand on the wheel center with ease (ie no heat you've got brg problems)

Regarding the Spring Ride...
There is a wee bit of concern that the spring ride may be toooo big a pack, in terms of road rage from the cages and therefore safety...
I think we will have one or two drop out before the ride ... work, family, sick or !!
However, Canadian_Lou and I where talking about the same thing a week or so ago.... We may, in the interest of safety, run two packs, looping around in opposite directions and meeting up at lunch and then at a restaurant at the end of the ride.... :-\ I'll up date as we go along... ;)

     

Found your comment on safety interesting, I've never wanted to ride with more than one other bike because its hard enough keeping up with what your partner is doing. There obviously should be rules to be followed when riding with more than one or two other riders. What are they?  My experience with motorcycle groups has been negative and I understand why they can cause road rage to auto drivers. If there are unpublished rules or suggestions these might be of help to bike and auto drivers.   BDC

  might i suggest a map hand out and meeting places along the route just to gather up straglers

Tiger, I too am sorry to hear about your fall and hope you are doing well.  I recently asked about group riding rules and no one gave me a direct answer. Today I got into a conversation with the owner of the local bike shop and was invited to ride in a group ride, I declined and asked about rules of riding as he said he is always asked to lead the procession. He gave me a rather long spiel about rules he insisted upon and what conduct he would not tolerate. I was wondering if anyone has an interest in those rules and have any of you given any thought as to what if anything that might be done to make all riders safer when riding in groups?   BDC

The spring ride...22nd/23rd May 2010...is less than six weeks away!!! :o ...With this in mind, given the numbers attending, the ride will be split in to two riding groups when we set away from Breezy Corners, after breakfast.

At the end of the ride, on the Saturday evening, we will again be having our meal at The Mandarin Restaurant in Brampton.

I have an in with a guy from Cape Breton on Lobster.Going to have to see what I can do.

Correction: Crab Legs Fest.

My wife loved the crab legs and I love the lobster.

Went to the one near me here on Dundas in Mississauga with thwife and b oth daughters.  Man those crab legs are great.  even went as far as using the soup bolw for the melted garlic butter.  I took a break after 3 heaping plates full.

 :) Only four weeks to go!!! I think by now, everyone has gotten a ride or two in and their bikes are ready for the start of the season main event... 8)

As mentioned in the past, there will be two groups leaving "Breezy Corners Restaurant" on the Saturday ride.
         
Canadian_Lou will Captain one crew on a "spirited Ride", (His words not mine...LOL) and I will Captain the other.

My group will head out from the restaurant after breakfast in a Northerly ('ish) direction...Campbellville Rd, Campbellville, 15 side road for some twisty bits, stopping off in Belfountain for a break...we then take a few back roads...Forks of the Credit River, etc, Hockley Valley Road and stop in Hockley for a coffee/pee what have you and then continue North...eventually swinging back South... ;D

The ride will finish at 3.45 p.m. in the Brampton Mandarin Restaurant car park...where both groups will get together for a good feed, a lot of laughs and some great conversations about the days respective ride high points.

The choice of which ride to go with is up to you, no pressure either way. However, it would be nice to get a fairly even split...

I'm really looking forward to meeting and riding with old and new friends once again.

If anyone has any plans for the Friday "ride-in" keep in touch, as I generally like to get out for a Friday ride too.  Sometimes we meet the American contingent on their way up.  I am thinking that this could be the first nice sunny spring ride we have had in recent history...here's hoping!

Tiger's Motel reservation desk,

The rooms are all booked up at "Tiger's Motel" in the warm (High 70's today) and sunny enclave known as Erin, Ontario...LOL.

For your convenience, we supply clean towels, soap, shampoo, toothpaste and shaving gel...as well as a comfortable and restfull bed, if you feel the need to sleep... ;D .

Laundry facilities are available...However, our experience is that most, if not all, real bikers do not wear underwear or wash their clothes (or them selves!!). Knickers, if worn, will last four days...normal, back-to-front and ditto when turned in-side-out!!! There is a stream, just up the street, if you insist in wearing your clothes if and when you do bathe. We also have guaranteed rain days here in Ontario, should you get to drunk to remember your annual dip.... ::) For those boring individuals, a normal bath/shower is available... ;)

Cold, Canadian brewed beer is available from the patio bar fridge for your refreshment. A corner of the small but airy patio area has been reserved for you to fall down in, should the Canadian beer be a bit over powering for your pallet . The respectful servants will provide a cover for you, for the night. This will stop most of the wild animals that we have here...raccoons, skunks, turtles, etc, disturbing you. Hot, strong coffee is available at no extra charge!!!!

Be aware, we have two wild, volatile dogs and a cat . If you leave your room door open at nights, you may awake with a pussy and/or dog licking your face...this is just their way of wearing you down!!!!...LOL. You are allowed to pet the dogs and pussy as much as they like it...and they like it ALL the time   

Special dietary needs are looked after here...You will be on a see food diet...what you see you eat... . There is a reservation made for you on Saturday evening at The Mandarin Restaurant. This is a well known opium supply shed frequented by the local constabulary...do not be alarmed...these officers are buying. Turn a blind eye and just enjoy the vast amount of food laid out for your pleasure.

Today, I have the pleasure of having our long distance riders, (N_V from Syracuse NY, Watson from Cleveland Ohio and xswheels from Sarnia (on Saturday) ), coming in to 'The Tiger Motel'. They will be here rain, hail or shine.... 8)

The weather report for Saturday: 17c (66f), with light showers (surprise, surprise its the May
twofour holiday weekend!!)...so everyone should pack their rain suits, just in case. Unless we get severe rain, a monsoon and/or a hurricane, the ride will still go ahead as planned... 8)

A table has been booked at "The Mandarin" for 4p.m. on Saturday...and their staff eagerly await our arrival with anticipation.... ;) Please be there by 3.45 p.m...

We have one or two new members riding with us...please welcome them in the usual fashion... :-*  ;)

There will be two road captains this weekend, Canadian_Lou will lead the 'spirited' ride, which will give you a good workout (knowing C_L)...and myself, the more sedate ride, with time out to smell the roses...LOL. The choice will be yours...however, I would hope for a fairly even split, keeping safety as a priority.

WOW.....what a fantastic, but somewhat wet ride.  Everyone met at BC ontime and had whatever their appetites asked for.  Then it was time to put on our rain gear as it started to rain pretty steadily.  we then all got on to our mounts and headed off, as one big group, to enjoy the rest of the day.

As this was my first time riding in a big group, I was kind of nervous as I didn't want to make any mistakes that could endnager me and anyone else.  So I just listened to our captain, Tiger, and just kept it cautious for a while as it was my first time riding unfamiliar roads and in the rain as well.

So there wasn't much excitement except when I down shifted 2 gears, as I was coming to a red traffic light, and the tail just slid to the right about a foot or so. (Good thing that breakfast was on the light side this morning)
Then later as we were catching up to the rest of the front riders, as we got split up by a quick changing traffic light, Cdnlouie makes a quick swerve voer to the left turn lane and I tried to slow down real quick for the light and jammed on the binders and down shifted some.  Green light comes and as I accelerate off the bike bogs and stalls.  AllI am thinking is Fiddlesticks is right behind me and I am not kind to be butt slapped.  So I quickly pull in the clutch and hit the start button and quickly shift down and get rolling again.  Turns out I down shifted previously only to third and didn't realize it until I stalled it and got it going again. (this was my second seat suction moment for the day)

After a few rest stops with some great riding inbetween them, we headed off to the AMndarin buffet restaurant.  I think everyone had more food than what they actually paid for.  And the crab legs were fantastic.  I think we all walked out each about 5lbs heavier.  Said our goodbyes and then I headed for home.

Can't wait for the next ride that I can be available for.

I don't think its an accident that you have so many Visionaries in the Toronto area. Perhaps we could rotate Tiger to different areas and then ya'll could be the envious ones for awhile. Thank you again Tiger for taking on the job of organizer/road captain. Your good planning and hospitality to are what make these rides what they are. I'll send you my pics tomorrow. Right now its a cheesy James Bond movie, a pina colada or 10 and bed.

We had a great weekend.  Even though we almost had to pay 3 bucks to enter our own country again . lololol  We beat the system this time though.  ;D 

hooha! another great time seeing old familiar friends and met some new folks....

I was impressed that a group that large stayed together so well.... great job Tiger and Lou

no major problems and almost no breakdowns.... SmokeBomb didn't want to say goodbye until we fed her an ignition fuse and wrung her bucket wires dry along the side of the higway near the Peace Bridge  ::)

Sundays ride was a bit warmer, faster and more manageable than Saturdays...but less riders

We got home at 7.30 last night after dropping our American brothers at the border and doing a wee tour around the Niagara/Welland/St Catherines area...and would you believe it, I screwed up AGAIN at the border!!!!!!! We...Geoff (Harley), Art(Harley),  Kev' (Vision), Fiddlesticks (Virago), Paul (Vulcan) and I (Vision), ...had to push our rides out of the far side of the duty free car park, up a bank, on a one way street...the wrong way... to get out without all the hassle ... LOL
   
I don't think SmokeBomb, N_V's Vision, wanted to go home :o  I think she was enjoying her vacation in Canada  ;D ...We stopped just before the border crossing and she wouldn't restart !!!. It turned out to be a loose ignition connection in the headlight bucket which in turn blew a fuse...ah, simple fix...hahahaha

I'll keep you all in the loop regarding any rides that I, or others, organise during the season.

great to hear so many had a good time. I never got my passport. So I could not come even if I had the time. I am presently tinkering with both my bikes. Carbs on the Big V4 and the supercharger W/aluminum pew38space modulator on the little V2...rocket. See you at NV's in July. Though I have not made reservations yet. NV, how are we looking for that ride?

just booked my son's flight yesterday so its on... weekend of July 16th.
