Title: KLR 650
Post by: fret not on November 13, 2018, 10:55:50 PM
The KLR 650 has proven to be a fairly reliable bike, within reason.  There are a few areas where the KLR has to be watched and inspected in regard to "wire rub through" issues.  A bare wire can short out and leave you stranded in the road.  A bit of preventive forethought, a small amount of money,  and some time can render this situation to no longer be a problem.  Aside from that and the occasional balancer shaft bearing coming apart they are a pretty reliable vehicle.

I have been enjoying mine for a good while now and can say it isn't a sport bike but it can carve through the canyons pretty well.  And it can go off road if need be.  It's heavy (420# dry) and tall, so parking lot tumbles are not unknown to happen.  Hey, it's a motorcycle and it goes.  Just wait until I get my Vision done . . . . . . . . . . :D
