Title: New Aux Lights
Post by: MotorPlow on May 21, 2006, 05:34:55 PM
I just added a set of cheap wal-mart aux lights to my Vision. Hopefully, I will be able to see more of those pesky deer when I ride home from work in the dark. You can see pictures at my website: www.motorplow.com (http://www.motorplow.com)

Damn it! I can't stop laughing... I wrote a post previous to this one (and deleted it) talking about being at Deal's Gap and how Mutt would ride behind me in the dark and I wouldn't be able to see anything. And... the more I proof read the post, the more it sounded like Brokeback Mountain. The more I tried changing the post, the more I realized that the entire post was going to be taken the absolute wrong way... Now I am just laughing too hard to write anything... Just go to my damn website!

unless you are counting your labor costs, you'd better check the math ($250 - $141 = $109 for the lights )   :-[

have you thought about those deer whistles? I personally don't know if they work, but I share your fear of things jumping out at me.

I just finished the running light conversion, but don't think the deer will really care  >:(

Some retired deputy sheriffs went to a retreat in the mountains. To
save money, they decided to sleep two to a room. No one wanted to room
with Daryl because he snored so badly. They decided it wasn't fair to make
one of  them stay with him the whole time, so they voted to take turns.

The first deputy slept with Daryl and comes to breakfast the next Morning with his hair a mess and his eyes all bloodshot. They said, "Man, what happened to you?" He said, "Daryl snored so loudly, I   just  Sat up and watched him all night."

The next night it was a different deputy's turn. In the morning,  Samething--hair all standing up, eyes all blood-shot. They said, "Man, What happened to you? You look awful!" He said, "Man, that Daryl shakes the roof. I watched him all night."

The third night was Frank's turn. Frank was a big burly ex-football Player ; a man's man. The next morning he came to breakfast bright eyed and bushy tailed. "Good morning," he said.
They couldn't believe it! They said, "Man, what happened?" He said,  "Well, we got ready for bed. I went and tucked Daryl into bed and kissed him good night. He sat up and watched me all night long."

I've heard the whitsles actually confuse the deer so bad they don't know which way to run. I also read that the reason deer run in front of vehicles is because the road is so well lit they run where they can see. Also because they are nocturnal feeders their eyes are sensitive to the light so it blinds them to look directly at your head lights. If I had my choice I would pick the brighter lights. I don't think there's a sure fire way to insure deer don't run out in front of you unless you just don't ride! I was hit in the side by a deer once in broad day light so we're not exempt just because it's night. We need an armed infrared defence system mounted on both sides.  :)....Blake...can you make it happen? Of course after you finish your fuel injection project.
