Title: not going in to gear
Post by: mdskinner731 on June 12, 2007, 08:42:07 PM
i am the fortunate owner of an '83 vision that has been sitting for 22 years and only has 3326.8 miles on it! (not to mention it was given to me for free!!!!!) :) my problem isnt starting the bike, it starts and runs fine but when i go to put it in gear with the clutch pulled in it kills the bike instantly if any one knows where i can start inorder to get that problem fixed it would be greatly appreciated
               thanks

been sitting for 22 yrs and it starts?  wowsa.

sounds like your sidestand switch is the culprit

believe it's as simple as cutting the wire

just having the sidestand down, when putting it in gear and the clutch in, will shut the bike off.

sidestand relay or switch may be the culprit if the stand is up and it dies when put in gear...

does you clutch work with the bike off? just putting it gear and neutral?

Im curious, has anyone actually ever tried to fix the switch or replace the relay instead of the ol sniparoo to the wire?
I like having that lil safety feature personally.
