Title: 83 Fairing Bracket
Post by: inanecathode on March 13, 2008, 09:10:16 PM
I'm missing my left and right lower fairing brackets (ties the lower corners of the full fairing to the bike im guessing) does anyone have any spare?
I doubt anyone does, but could someone take pictures/measure their bracket and send me the specs so i can make some?
Thanks kindly

One of mine cracked and  fell off . I cobbled one from a 4 inch 90 degree bracket, from ace hardware, Ugly as he** ,  I'm going to find a real one, anyway.

Where does the bike end of the bracket attach to, do you know?

These pictures are of the left hand side lower fairing mounting bracket.

I may have photos of the right hand side at home.  I'll have to check.

Ew, that looks complicated :O

I dont have the oil filler so perhaps my version will be a bit simpler  :D

Yeah, if you don't have the oil filler, you can probably get away with a 4-bend. Note the curve in the center to provide strength.

There's only  one style of bracket , (Yamaha calls it a, stay)  Even if you don't have the remote oil filler , you will need this bracket , unless your going to make one. The other side is worse  , it comes out from under the  two coolant pipes  and goes up and  around to catch the fairing lower.

Hmm, i'll have to figure out an easier way to do it...

My last comment was in case you were going to make one yourself.   I think I have a better photo of the right side at home, I think someone asked about it then, and I took a couple of shots.  Rick is correct, Yamaha never designed this as "without an oil filler".  Even on the late model 82s with the fairing...

When I get home, I'll see what I have.

And the left side bracket.  Click on the image for a larger version.

I found some more detailed photos.  I knew I had taken some for someone else.

This is where the right side mounts, you can see it just behind the radiator tubes.
