Some other problems on the bike

Hi,
I rode the bike the afternoon, and it was working fine. I saw some more problems:
-when I turn on the light, the tail light and the light on the tag don't turn on. When I brake, it does. After looking my Haynes, it seems that there is two different switches for the head/tail light (p164). My understanding is that one is the ignition lock, and when it is just before the ignition, the tail light does turn on, and the other one, the one I'm using for the head light. So, is it normal than the tail light doesn't turn off when I release the brake? Then, how do the car know if I'm braking or not?
-I also understood from the diagram I should have a low and a high beam. I've high and off. Is that a problem to be fixed, or normal?
-the second problem is probably just because it's my first bike, and consequently doesn't know what's the right position is. My right ankle really hurt, and not to push the brake with my foot is hard. Am I suppose not to leave the foot on the pedal? Should I lower the pedal? Or get use to this weird position?
-the radiator seems not to be connected to the "bottle" under the seat. The place where the tube is suppose to go on the radiator has obviously been broken and something has been put in the hole, in order for the radiator not to leak. Would somebody have a great idea of how to put it back? Does it matter if I ride the bike that way?
Thank you

bo,,
i have a website for you to visit, i think a lot of people would also want this information

http://www.dansmc.com/

this website is jammed full of all kinds of information, even an online repair course. as for basics of riding,, you need to find a fellow rider, of any bike with a few years seat time ,and just ask for help , we all started out new once, and the best teacher is always another rider.

by the way, i use the online repair course in tandem with this forum and Lucky's cd rom every time i work on my bikes , no sense in wasting free skill and good planning .
keep your bike running, your beer cold ,and your passport handy.all are like money in the bank .

The counter clock wise position on the ignition switch  is a parking position that also locks the front wheel when the forks are turned all the way left.
Your rear brake light switch sounds like its out of adjustment, does your front brake actuate the brake light properly?
Your head light  bulb sounds like it has a beam burned out , or the switch is  bad or a wire inside the head light is disconnected check it out.  If you need to replace the bulb  DON"T touch premature failure.
It sounds like your rear brake pedal is bent up , it may need to be straightened or replaced , if you need a pic of what its supposed to look like let me know.

The bottle is the coolant recovery  bottle  and it  really needs to be connected. I believe repair would be expensive , I'll sell you a radator  for 10.00 pluss shipping and solve your problem.

Just a bit of added info for the website kiawrench posted.  This guy is in the Atlanta area and will come to your house to service your bike at very reasonable rates.  I haven't used him, myself, but the guy I bought my vision off of has.  He said he is very good.
