So I had to replace my tac after the R/R went out but the one I got off ebay was faded and didn't match my speedo.  I found an ultra fine tip red Sharpie marker and practiced on the speedo that came with my tac I wasn't going to use, just recolored the faded red parts, then some Armor All to bring back the black.  If you got faded gauges give it a try, it was cheap and really made the gauges pop like new.

That's a dope tip, came out great! I have one spare cluster that is faded so much that the red squares are white as is the "55" square!  I thought it was a foreign cluster!  Fortunatly the ones on my bike and another spare are quite red still.

I just did a full LED conversion of all the gauges and indicator lights, for the gauges I used LED's that have multiple SMDs on all sides so they light evenly like the stock bulbs, but I went with RED LED's.  It makes the gauges glow fully red at night and looks great. I'll put pics/info up soon.

That's what i used on my guages too.  for the finishing touch, go find a place that has welding supplies (or a well stocked hardware store) and buy a 'Forney' orange paint pen. do the needles with it, they look brandy new.

one tip, the sharpie will fade in a year if left in the sun a lot. keep it in the shade or covered with a towel.

i want to to see those LED's.  can you post some manufacturer/part # info for them?

I found a small bottle of Model Aircraft fluorescent orange and did the needles, they came up great and still look great four years and 40 klms later.

:) The two bulbs that light the gauges also come in amber......which is what I use when I do my rebuilds...they are a straight replacement ;)

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming HOOOOYA lets go again baby !!!!!!
