If you milled the Visions heads that would retard the cam timing slightly correct???

Also,,,,If I remember correctly ,,,,retarding cam timing shifts the power up in the rpms,,,right???

I'm pretty sure that retarding the cams will move your peak torque down in the rev range slightly.
I would be thinking more about your compression ratio and fuel octane and spark timing...
All things being equal, if the cams retard, you'll probably have less horsepower and peak torque at a lower RPM. The increase in compression ratio will probably more than make up for the loss in horsepower and torque. So you'll proably losse a little of that top end rush but have a bit more pull low down.
There is an old rule of thumb (though I have not heard it for a while) if the engine makes more peak power with retarded cams, then the cams are too wild for that engine. If the engine makes more peak power with advanced cams then the cams are too mild for the engine.
You might find the V more "driveable" (to coin a car phrase) with retarded cams, but then who wants to drive a bike.

I doubt you'll be milling the heads enough to put the timing out by a whole tooth. Anyone got any adjustable cam gears for their V?
Perhaps use a thick metal head gasket to keep the compression and cam timing standard.

I just called Summit Racing and asked them what retarding the cam timing would do and they said it would raise the power peak....Advancing would lower the rpm of the power peak.....

Can anyone verify my guess that Milling the V's heads would retard the cam timing??

I just calculated how many degrees it would retard the cam timing and if you milled .015 inch off the heads it would retard the cam roughly 2.5 degrees....
