I'm currently looking at TWO of those in my garage.  (stators in cases)  Actually, the one from Silver V is already removed.  Stator from Tractor tested great.  Now, if I can make it last a while, I shouldn't have to do this again for a while!

If this one fries, I'll be looking along the same lines as what you've done - go with a slightly smaller diameter stator & see if that makes a difference.

I'm not taking pix of this operation, but the case cover on Silver V is just as clean.  Bel-Ray EXS synthetic 0w-40.  Doesn't get a chance to get very dirty when you do a ststor change with every oil change.  Makes those oil changes kind of expensive!

If you have an accident on a motorcycle, it's always your fault. Tough call, but it has to be that way. You're in the right, and dead -on a bike. The principle is not to have any accident. If you're involved in an an accident, it's because you did not anticipate. Then, by default, you failed.

Quotedo a stator change with every oil change

Duh! that's why your burning stators! STOP CHANGING THE OIL!!!

Actually, I haven't even been getting the distance between stators to require an oil change!  Not kidding.  This one came close @ 2500 miles.  The one I'm installing looks even better than the one I just took out.  The latest fried one was an OEM but I had no knowledge of its past.  All I know is that it was used.

Think I'll use some Posi-Loc connectors for the stator connection this time.  Don't like soldering since I find I need to run the Electrex test chart too often.   ::)

as a side note, I put crimpons on that stator and just plugged the three wires to the OEM R&R connector
