Cool beans.  I really enjoy Mother Nature's shows.  This year's Perseid Meteor Shower was fantastic & I didn't even venture out of town.  Spent about an hour outdoors watching & counted 85 shooting stars.  Wonder what I could have seen without so much light pollution!

If you have an accident on a motorcycle, it's always your fault. Tough call, but it has to be that way. You're in the right, and dead -on a bike. The principle is not to have any accident. If you're involved in an an accident, it's because you did not anticipate. Then, by default, you failed.

They really need to schedule these celestial events to be more convenient for dayshift guys who have to get up at 5:00 in the morning.  Staying up for the Perseids until the middle of the night for three nights in a row left me sleepy for almost a week.

The good thing about that is that you get to ride all day...Mmmm.... All day....Every day.... I can all ways catch that eclipse on the news, Oh well....

I got up & watched part of the eclipse last night.  Started @ 2:51AM (MDT).  I watched until totality began, which took an hour.  Had some minor cloud interference, but by the time totality arrived, the clouds had cleared & I was treated to a beautiful, dim orange ball in the star filled sky.

The last total lunar eclipse I saw was several years ago while on a week long raft trip through Dinosaur National Monument.  We all left the campsite and hiked about a half mile back upriver.  The Yampa flows through a fairly deep canyon & we needed to get to a more open spot on a sharp river bend.  On the way, I noticed several on my friends had not worn their headlamps or brought flashlights.  When I mentioned it to them, they said "we don't need them, it's a full moon."  That's when I replied, "We're going to see a TOTAL ECLIPSE!"  The only reply I got was, "D'oh!"  One of them turned back & retrieved the necessary light emitting implements. (true story)

The last eclipse I experienced was the solar eclipse. I was in Guadalajara, Jal. Mexico... Total darkness during the day! WOW!!!. It was extraordinary watching darkness just consume the city! It was a domino effect as the streetlights lit up as the sensors were tripped. I'll see if I can dig up some Pics.
