:) Sometimes people find a gas cap for their Vision but have no key to operate it and chuck it back in the pile or in the garbage!!!!

I've had a couple like this and all I do is, from the underside, remove the two screws, locking pin cover and pins. Reinstall the cover with the two screws and ..... VOILA, a working gas cap...and for all intense and purposes, to passers by, is locked!!!

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming HOOOOYA lets go again baby !!!!!!

Which is what I did to mine as, even though I had the key, the parts were so corroded it was extremely difficult to unlock it. I do not leave it unattended out of the garage for any long period so it works for me.

i wish i would  have  thought about that. it took me a lot of effort to find a working cap. ended finding one in kentucky  for  30 bucks from a scrap yard .lol i live in oregon. so far that's been the hardest part for me to find besides  fairings

here's some more gas cap wisdom:

some folks think it's a good idea to make a spare key for their Vision and keep the original key in a safe place.

smart folks would also make sure this spare key works in their gas cap BEFORE heading out on a long trip.

?, t???more gas cap wisdom???  akvision here,  just got back from MO.

So am driving akBluV down the highway nice and easy and look down and the odo says 52 miles on the tank.. then....aaaakkkkkaaakkkk.boooookkkchookkkkchoook,,,,arrrrrrrrpprrrppssrrppseppprsssl.  Was doing 65 now doing 45 and loosing power.. electric???? naaa... feels like I am running out of gas... on to prime... same loosing power.... then baaaaaa.. prerrrr and like nothing all is ok with the  BluV..

I'm still in CO and the road it straight and flat and heading for Kansas... I silently say,, don't do this to me.. then I think...get the spare  key and crack the lid..  No problem for the rest of the day..
I get to the motel that night in LaMarr KS and take off the locking mechanism and proceed to disect the gas cap.. lock off, then retainer and spring, rubber gasket. reminents of an  oring fall on the table and pieces of cork also fall out.  now just junk.  There is a small vent hole with a small fabric filter covering the vent. There is also a second vent... all looks clear.. but am on the road and cannot doddle too much.
I reassemble and set it in the tank..  At 52 miles we started the dance again... I cracked the lid and all was good.. so I have yet to solve this problem.  I have a spare lid with my spare tank..to look at too.

More to come...
