Damned I was so pissed off once I finally got home this morning 4 hours after I had left from work.

As I rode away from work I noticed that my rear end was going up and down like a pogo stick or something. I thought it was just the rode undulating underneath me for some reason.  I pulled over, initially to change gloves as my hands were getting a nice cold breeze, and noticed that I had a flat rear tire.  So I rode another 100 feet or so and parked it in a parking lot beside the main road.  I get my lid off and start walking down the road to the pay-phone.  Call up the auto-club at about 7AM and wait.........wait..............wait.  Finally he arrives at 8:15AM.  I ask him if he can plug a tire on the side of the road and he said yes.  So we try to pull the finishing nail out of my rear tire but it got pushed in instead.  Put the tire plug in and hand the guy a $20 and I go on my way.  Happy as a clam that I can continue to ride home.

Then about 20miles later, once I am on the highway I notice that the rear end is starting to sway right and left slightly.  I start cursing out loud, while doing about 60 MPH, because I suspect the rear tire to be flat again.  Sure enough once I pull of to the shoulder on the right and take a look the tire is FLAT!!!!!!  So I limp the bike over to the next exit going only about 10MPH on the shoulder and get off and stop at the gas station. Looked at the tire and notice that the plug is MISSING! :o  Call the auto-club again, now it is about 9:30AM, and wait about 1/2 hour.  Once he arrives, my wife arrived who I had called this time to come by( as I was only about 2 miles from home), and we start loading the V onto the flatbed.  Once home I just push her HEAVY ASS into the garage for the rest of the day.

I then installed my new battery into my Nissan Altima and called my insurance broker to put the car back onto the insurance policy.

Then I e-mail Pete's Superbike in Quebec for tire availability. I go upstairs to sleep as it is already 1:30PM and I have to wake at 6:30PM to get ready for work.  Wake up to the alarm clock, get dressed and check e-mail and get a reply from the tier guy. "I have a front Pilot Activ 100/90-18 in stock and  a BT45 110/90-18 rear in stock. I could do them really cheap if you want them. $125 for the pair, Taxe and shipping included! Anything else would have to be ordered and would cost much more.
Thanks, Sebastien".

Looks like a good deal to me.  Just will have to get them installed and balanced once they arrive.

So now it is off to work again, al be it in a cage for the first time this year.

I don't think you are supposed to plug a motorcycle tire.  This is the reason why.  They have plugs for them, but they go from the inside of the tire, you have to take it off to plug it.  They are subjected to much more flex and lateral stress than a car tire, and while, I would do it to try to limp home, I wouldn't go 60 with a regular plug in my tire.  Ive read where people had good luck with them, and when I got my vision, it had TWO plugs in the rear tire, that had been there quite a while.  I bought new tires.  It's not worth the risk.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming HOOOOYA lets go again baby !!!!!!

Damned that was fast.  I ordered AND payed for the tires yesterday at about 2-3PM and the FedEx guy arrived with them at my door at 10AM this morning.

Way to go Sebastien at Pete's Superbike.     www.petes-superbike.com

No sense in putting a tube in a tire where the wear strips are less than 1/16" away from being even with the tread.  It was going to be replaced in the spring but better forces prevailed that made me save a bunch of $$$$$$$.

Pete's Superbike is incredible for price and delivery.  Definitely the best kicking tire deals going (for us Canadians anyway).

Vadaz note that a tire plug is an act of desperation to limp home at very low speeds.  You should never have put that kind of "faith" in a small piece of of cord.  Proper plugs installed on the inside are an option, but I don't think that I would care to exercise even that option on a motorcycle.  It would be only because I can't get a tire right away and my speed would be adjusted accordingly.  That was a darned risky event  :o.

Have you ever thought of jumping school buses Evil Knievel style  ::)?

:) Problem solved...Now you can polish and paint those rims up real pretty Robert :o ;)

Two new tires mounted, balanced (on a spare set of rims) and ready for vadasz1 to install on to his Vision. (Torque to 80ft lbs and insert new cotter pins buddy). Don't forget to drop your other wheels off and I will pull the old tires off for you, to do with what you want :police:
