GRRRR....this is really stsarting to annoy me, these little problems..
It seems like the bike doesnt want to start....most times...
The engine spins over what seems like fast enough, but just eventually dies without firing, yet when I put the portable jump station car charger on it it starts first time....the battery was new 10 years ago, never used, its only had acid in it for the past 3  months, so it is almost new you could say.
Any help before I put the old girl on ebay would be appreciated.

Cheers

Sounds like you may have oil in your starter. Did you go through the charging system check for the stator, starter relay, battery, etc.?
I would check first with the starter, even if a little oil  seeped into it may be enough to slow it down to where your battery can't turn it quick enough.

:) Take the battery in and get it checked out FIRST.......then continue on with the process of elimination........ ;)
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming HOOOOYA lets go again baby !!!!!!

the battery was new 10 years ago,

what does the voltage drop down to while cranking? if it drops below 10 volts get a NEW battery & try again
