stator cover q's

If I'm not changing out stator .......... ( seems to be fine........ hate to spend so much money on someting thats working already.... hope I don't regret)..........can I leave the grommets in place and just yamabond where the gasket crosses over them??? And is there something other than yamabond that comes in a ...smaller/cheaper tube???And was it brake cleaner to spray out the gasket shavings and to leave the egde clean for gasketing??

My life seems to be governed by Murphy's Law.... if I pulled off the cover and didn't touch the grommets and put it back, I would bet my next paycheck that it would leak. I would use the yamabond on the grommet just to be sure... I know there was a post that hondabond 4 is the same as yamabond 4 and threebond1104 (see this thread: http://ridersofvision.net/forum/xzindex.php?topic=161.0) they are all the same type... And yes, brake cleaner dries and leaves no residue which should be good for cleaning out the area.
