Well, I went to IMI Motorsports Park near Dacono, CO today.  Left the house around 11 this morning.  Temp was already 90(F).  By the time I got to Longmont - about 35 miles South of Ft. Collins - my dash thermometer cracked the 100(F) line.  Got to the track about 12:15, paid my track rental fee & waited for a few friends to arrive.  They showed up gradually over the next hour.  By the time we were all present, there were 6 bikes.  A GSXR750, a ZX-10, a ZX-7, a CBR (large bore, but don't remember the exact size) RR, a Ninja 250 and my Vision.

We had to share the track with a large group of Kart renters - 20 minutes bikes, 20 minutes karts - for a couple hours.  They don't allow karts & bikes on the track at the same time - for good reason.  Most kart renters have never been on a track & don't know the 'rules of the road'.  Also, karts & bikes often have quite different lines through the corners.  The rental karts are also pretty slow.

I made about 20 laps or so total - the heat was just killer.  My body has never liked heat & today was no exception.  I kept an eye on my thermometer off & on through the afternoon.  Saw it reach nearly 110 for a while.  That was in the shade (but on asphalt).  After I got moving - giving a more accurate temp reading - it had cooled all the way down to 105.

The RoadRiders gripped well - but what wouldn't in that kind of heat?  Hope my body recovers between now and Friday morning, when I leave for Steamboat.

Even though it was fun & I got some good video, I don't think I'll do another track day until the temps are closer to 80.

If you have an accident on a motorcycle, it's always your fault. Tough call, but it has to be that way. You're in the right, and dead -on a bike. The principle is not to have any accident. If you're involved in an an accident, it's because you did not anticipate. Then, by default, you failed.

No need to be too jealous - it was freakin' HOT!  It was still in the mid 90s when I rode home about 6PM.   ::)  My leathers were soaked - but that helped with evaporative cooling as long as I could go over 35 or so.  Might need to deodorize them for the trip Friday, though.   :o

A couple pix from a Summer 2007 track day:

William scraping hard parts on a GTS1000!

Who's that Visionary riding a Triumph Sprint?

Jim on his VFR800.  A little different than his Formula Mazda!

;D  H2O getting in some track time.   ;D  Actually, I do play a little golf.  No, I am not a ....... .  This was sent to me by William the GTS rider.

Still getting my files recovered from my old FUBAR external drive.  The 2008 pix will be up when that project finishes.   ::)
