Searched and could find nothing connected with grommets, can anyone tell where to buy side cover grommets. Reckon they've got a right to fall apart after twenty-seven years.  BDC

:) Available at your local, friendly, bend-over-&-assume-the-position Yamaha dealer... ::) ;) or you can use 1/4" rubber fuel hose, cut/fit and replace side covers... 8)

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming HOOOOYA lets go again baby !!!!!!

I just looked up several grommets on one of the online dealers & they are available.  Not too much $$ - $1 to $3 each for the side cover grommets.  More than a hardware store, but at least these are correct & will fit without wasting  time looking & comparing.

Sometimes, it is OK to get OEM parts and the prices aren't that bad on these.

If you have an accident on a motorcycle, it's always your fault. Tough call, but it has to be that way. You're in the right, and dead -on a bike. The principle is not to have any accident. If you're involved in an an accident, it's because you did not anticipate. Then, by default, you failed.

Numerous online Yamaha dealers.  Try a search & check prices for several of them.

Try the speciallty nuts, bolts, ect. drawers at Lowes or Home Depot hardware areas.  Tip: coat the inside of the grommits with silicone grease for very long life and low stress cover attachement and removal.

I'd personally spring for the oem grommets. I tried the specialty drawer grommets and it made the LH side cover on the RD fly off somewhere between nederland and black hawk ><

If you do use hardware store stuff, a little safety wire around the push pin when in place will keep it in place.
