colour of '82?

Hey guys

faring still sitting in the corner at the paint shop :(

I've been asked the question - what is the original colour of the '82 called? (or closest match that you know of)
Or will they just have to do their best to try and match it from the small unfaded bits LOL

The red was simply called "Yamaha Red", which was a type of candy apple red.  If you need that translated into a color name currently used, let me know what type/brand paint you'll be using; Sikken, DuPont, etc., and I'll get a match best I can.  If your body shop has one, there is an optical device that can match colors, but as you've said, if it's all faded, won't do much good.  The tank area under the seat may give you the best, unfaded match.  An auto parts house that sells paint is where I matched my silver paint.  Good luck.
