Well poopoo ska-do. My bikes charging system decided to fail while riding today...30 minutes from home. I lost all power and am stranded waiting for a ride so I can get my truck. I'm typing this from my iPhone in a parking lot.

hmm, that's why an onboard volt meter is handy.

must not have been charging for awhile.... you can go at least 100 miles on a fully charged battery (with minimum starter and turn signal usage)

having an onboard meter would have provided enough warning to decide if you needed to ski-daddle home.

I had a stator failure begin about 50 miles into an epic 300 mile ride with my son and brother... told the guys I wasn't sure how far she'd make it, but I wasn't going to abandon the ride (since I had two "chargers" riding with me.)

by the time I was "almost" home, I needed to maintain 75 mph to get some charging action.
without a meter, I would not have been aware of the situation.

get a stator... get a meter  ;)
