Ok guys, I think that we should start talking about "The CROV Spring Rally" dates and location.

Coil Coyle

Sal,

We're back in California, Contra Costa County, and I have three days of vacation saved to date, Lori and I will probably be able to make this one.
The bakery I work at runs 24/7 so any date works for us this time.

Would the C stand for California? If its in southern cali I might wander over from AZ.

Yup, I believe it is the longest running ROV rally.  I believe the first was just north of Paso Robles some 10 years ago?

My vision still wont be ready (its not lack of ambition its lack of money) but my Virago still purrs. If Im not working I could make it maybe.. Im in Tahoe so Id have to plan it.. I have a place in Parker Arizona too, so, that brings me closer to So Cal.

If you guys promise not to laugh at my Viagra 535 I might be able to make it and it would be something to look forward to after a long winter for me!  My Vision is in pieces all over the garage and it looks like it will remain so.  I'm thinking of giving it away since I have no money, desire, skills, or whatever else it takes to restore and keep it going.  The Virago is no where near as good a bike but it will do for a year or two and then I think I'll buy my first brand new bike and my last bike.  Maybe for my 60th birthday?
Anyway, I'd love to go for a ride so I'll keep watching and waiting!

Sharon and I are volunteering to host the the spring rally in Tehachapi. We're looking at the first weekend in May (4/30 - 5/2). Some of the best roads in California and we'll ride ones that the CROV hasn't ridden before, including the infamous Kern Canyon.
The closest (and least expensive) motel is the Golden hills Motel
                                                                  22561 Woodford Tehachapi Rd.
                                                                  Tehachapi, Ca. 93561
                                                                  (661) 8224488

There are also Best Western and Holiday Inn to chose from, but more expensive and farther from headquarters.

Hope to see you here.

I'll try to be there.
My main problem is time availability. I've changed roles at my company and am now responsible for the Western 11 states.
Very intense, every day.
My Vision is making some noise on cold start up, which goes away after it warms. May be the starter clutch or balance shaft drive gear or ???? Have to take it apart and pull the flywheel and see whats happening. No metal in the oil filter though.
Hopefully a simple fix. + new tires + new gel battery. The stator put in @ Colorado may need replacement as well (or I could wait till Saturday nite).

For those who haven't been to a CROV run, try to make it. The roads at Tehachapi are magic. The old Tehachapi Hwy starts within a mile of the McCoys house and is a mini dragon with new pavement and no traffic. The Lions Trail is another min dragon, and I know Ron has more to show us that are just as good. The mountains of the south Sierrra lack foothills, and so, have extreme up and down grades and the accompanying twisties required to lay pavement in such terrain.
I'd like to see what's on the other side of Sherman Pass.
Bring it on, Ron

Congratulations (on your new role)! This would be a great way to celebrate, great weather, roads, rides, food, friends and don't forget the stories that will develop...or you can just call it therapy, both physically and mentally cause you will get a workout! You seem driven even with your new position, that's awesome let me know if you need anything.....

Craig, check the cam chain tensioners, sometimes the cam chains will rattle alittle on cold start up if the adjusters are at or near the limit.

Good to see you on the web, maybe well can do that Feather River ride this year.

I'd like to do that.
Also want to check out the road to Buck's Lake. I hear it is completely repaved.

motoracer8

Let, me know, we'll make a plan. There is probbably still alittle snow in the Bucks lake area.

Hi Guys,   Tehachipi sounds awesome! I should be able to make this one.  Many thanks to Ron and  Sharon for hosting this get together once again. I'll let Chet know and hopefully he can make it also.  We had a great time at the last Tehachipi CROV Rally. I'll let you know once I get my hall pass. I hope everyone's doing well and look forward to seeing you and doing some riding.
Best wishes,  Vic

Kenny

I'm glad to hear someone might come. V-meister, Saturday night stator change would be good CROV rally fun. Vic, be sure to bring Chet. Kenny, you're bound to win the long distance award. We're going riding no matter how many show up.

Getting the last day of the month off is tough for me!
Looking forward to seeing the gang again..
Thanks for putting this on Ron & Sharon.
