ok, im gonna adjust the valves,, got a tool coming and am going in before-hand to get the needed shim measurements.. What I dont know,, will I need a gasket? The semi circle rubber goodies seem to be leaking on mine.. is it a fitment issue or more likely a need to replace?? Anything you can give me a heads up on would be great,, Im new at this so,,I have a bit of trepidation going in...

I have always reused my valve cover gaskets,(there rubber) , as there pretty expensive (the one for a Maxim is over 100.00.  If there not cracked I use  3 bond (yamabond, Hondabond)  on the bottom of the gasket and Gask-a cinch on the top . 3 bond has a firmer grip to seal the bottom of the gasket and Gask-a-cinch , is more easily removable , to allow reasonable removal next time.  I might have some servicable used ones if yours are cracked.

Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there in lurks the skid demon

Thanx, Rick. I'll assess it. I thought I was gonna dig in early and get some pads ordered,, but, I guess I need a magnetic thing, too,, Gonna be next week.

Just a note about the valve cover gaskets. During the past couple of months I've seen a surge of them on eBay ranging from $9 to $25 (new) plus shipping. I was able to pick one up for $9 and another up for $13. So if anyone has oil leaking from their covers, this isn't too expensive of a fix.

funkamongus

I got a pair too,, Im just amassing parts for a last go round. They were cheap. I hope they are alright.

The Excel chart accessed by clicking the "Technical" button on the Title bar above this page is also correct.
